whatever they want. The 5 year old ends up finding the brandy every year. Sleeps from about 2pm till boxing day afternoon.

We open a bottle of bucks fizz on Christmas morning and kids get a glass to have a toast but they never drink it and again for xmas dinner we put a tiny bit of rose wine in there glass but purely to toast ''happy christmas '' they never drink it , it always goes in dads glass, lol, mind you they are only 6 and 10

You mean let kids drink alcohol illegally?

He (5 yr old) may have a very weakened white wine lemonade spritzer. He sometimes sneaks little swigs of my beer.

Sigh. It's not illegal, to purchase it's illegal.

As far as I know you're allowed to have alcohol from as young as 5.

But it is classed as child neglect/abuse which is illegal. :p

no chance they are kids under 18 why would anyone want to encourage this and especially a parent! no they have plenty of time when they are older to inflict this on themselves when it is their decision to be made!

I stand corrected.
Gee, the fact is:

Any child aged five or over can drink alcohol at home or on other private premises but children under the age of five can only drink alcohol on a doctor's advice for health reasons.

I can't wait to have kids! Get them **** at 6!

As long as the kids arent the ones buying it then its not illegal
#25
I will let her when she is older but not now, she is only 4 lol.
#26
Most kids aged 15/16 probably already drink more than their parents ;)

I have enough with the husband drinking let alone a 7,5 and 2 yr old!! Think I will leave the drinking till they are old enough and ugly enough to sort themselves out for the hangover the morning after!

I actually checked this online today, they're allowed to drink in the house from the age of 5 as long as they're supervised by their parents and the parent has to judge the amount they've drunk- so they're not drunk etc.

( reason for checking- step-sister is 17 and her mother is buying and allowing her to get drunk every day at her house- she's on a section 31 with social services and isn't allowed unsupervised visits with her mother, but she's run away to her house and the police/social services refuse to do anything as they've caused so much trouble...)

What on earth...
thats exactly what i thought when i read your post! no child under 18 should be having alcohol.

This topic probably refers to a small glass of wine with Christas dinner. Not letting your toddler do a row of shots.

One of these is being a bad parent, the other's not.

I will when they are older, before 18 probably, I think that if you make them wait until 18 they will end up bingeing on it, but if they are used to having something on a special occasion, then it wont be such a big thing, as you are not making it into something they are not allowed, which with kids is always what they want especially in their teens

Think the op is talking about older children, not toddlers

Why waste perfectly good (and expensive) alcohol on your kids?

You can always feed some to yours pets, watching an alsation stagger sideways into the TV unit would be pretty comical I'd imagine...

(awaits the backlash) :{

If your toddler keeps asking for a kebab, you've gone wrong somewhere.

Do you not think so? i think you have been brainwashed. so a small beer or glass of wine will do someone under the age of 18 harm will it? No, is the answer.

the law is there to stop people going out getting absolutely wasted, not having a beer or 2.
You need to open your eyes.

Exactly, i was always allowed a babycham on xmas eve before i went to bed , lol, didnt even like the stuff , it was the novelty tbh and never drank it , if kids are introduced to alchohol sensibly then i cant see it becoming a problem in later life , as i have said in a previous post we give our kids a small glass of wine to toast mainly .......and they do it a lot in France
