Just dont, let em dig up the landfills when they run out of stuff, handily all the plastics and things will be in one place , do it all in massive job lots instead of sending 1000's of men and wagons round every week to collect a few bottles and spill rubbish all over the street

I spoke to our refuse collectors yesterday morning about the rubbish they leave behind for me to collect!

They said that the wagon was broken and the mechanic couldn't fix it!

We recycle paper, compostables, metal and plastics. I believe in the Reduce part of the whole Reduce, Reuse, Recycle thing. If we had less packaging then we'd have less waste.

Yeah, we recycle everything that we can - paper, cardboard, glass, plastic etc...have done for years now. Did a huge car boot the other week to get rid of loads of stuff lying around the house - and ebay the good things. I really hate to see anything going into landfill if I think that there is a chance someone else maybe able to make use of it. I haven't tried freecycle yet, but have heard loads of good things about that too.

we have different bins for different stuff... tins, bottles, paper etc.. But we have to i think

However, stuff does occasionally mix, so i wouldnt say im that 'green' tbh

I recycle quite a lot, we have a really good recycling collection, have a green bag for paper, cloth & foil. A pink bag for plastic and cans. A white bag for glass and batteries and a brown bin for garden waste but we still end up having about 3-4 ordinary black bags/week!!! Supermarkets should be made to cut down on their packaging, it might not look as nice but I'm sure we will all get used to a more pared down look and you would have a better idea what you are buying, some things seem to be all packaging with a tiny little item inside!!
#33
In Birmingham we don't have bis, we just put black bin bags out. We do have a green and a blue box for recycling, one is in the garage holding oil, screenwash, car shampoo and other car related stuff, and the other is next to the front door collecting all the junkmail.

The junkmail is the only thing that gets put out, everything else goes in the bin

I do recycle these days and I have found that it has cut my expenditure. I have a compost bin in the garden and put all fruit and veggie waste there. Reduce Reuse Recycle.. I look in the fridge before I shop so I will not buy things that go off before I use them.
Big thing for me is that health has not been too good recently and have resorted to more convinience ready meals for ease. I dont like the extra waste they produce though. I dont like to take carriers at supermarkets but any I take I reuse in other ways. (They dont have carriers in France and I dont think anyone has died from it).
My council will not take glass so I often have bottles and jars for ages until I remember to take them on a supermarket trip with me to put in the recycle bins there.
I think there should be a much greater carrot approach rather than trying to fine people as some councils do.

Maybe the next application for a landfill site should be next to Kung Fu' s house. It might concerntrate the mind. I am jesting to a degree... ;-)
