I hope my grandma lives forever.

Sorry to hear that your grandparents are no longer here :(

Yes, they adopted me when i was young so i call them Mam & Dad.
#4
I just recently lost my mama who was like a mother to me- she died rather suddenly even though she was as fit as a fiddle- treasure every moment
#5
i have one set of grandparents on my dads side, my mums parents both passed away years ago, i still had my great nanna up until 2years ago, she was lovely, she came into the home where i worked for a few years so we ended up even closer than we were and it was so hard for me when she took ill, but i was glad i was there to look after her till the end.

I had a Nannu (grandfather) but he died when I was still a toddler. So I only had a Nanna - we lived with her in Malta for a few years, but most of the time we were here and she was in Malta. She died 20 years ago. My children have a Nanna who is also in Malta and a Grannie who lives over a hundred miles away.
So in our family we've never had the "popping round to the grandparents" lifestyle and having babysitters on hand whenever we need them.

My Gran is 74, don't see her very often because we don't live near each other, but she's great. She's a very young at heart Gran, acts more like a 50 year old.

Where does she live?

I have one left, turned 90 a couple of weeks ago :)

My grandma lives 28 miles away in chorley.

I speak to her nearly every day.

We have a good laugh together and she never judges anyone :)

Where does she live?

Cheshire, she grew up where I live but re-married and moved there with her kids (my uncles and auntie) when I was a baby. My mother stayed here. She visits us about twice a year, but we tend to only go down there for special occasions, weddings, christenings etc.

Is that enough info for you? lol

I live near cheshire :p

My mams side died when i was 13 and 16, wasnt really very close to them.

My Dads side, i was really really close to, I practically lived with them when i was younger and was spoilt rotten by them being their only Grandaughter (they also had 3 Grandsons).

My Grandma developed dementia and went downhill really fast, she was taken into a care home, My Grandad died 3 weeks after she went into the home. We told my Grandma (she was unable to do anything at this point and mainly slept, couldnt communicate) that he had passed away at about 8pm the day before his funeral, she died 6am the next morning. Lost two of the most important people in my life just 10 days apart. That was really really hard.

They missed my wedding by 5 months which is the one thing my Grandma always said she wanted to see.

I would do anything to have them back

Setting off now.

Can't wait to see her :)
#28
My nan means the world to me, and 2 years ago she suffered a huge stroke, and is now unable to move at all, and she is in a care home.
I say care home, no like lack of care home, as on Sunday one of the workers in the home stole her 22 carat Wedding Ring from off her finger, and bruised her in the process.

If I had my way I'd do everything possible to make their lives hell, and if I caught whoever did it they would be dead (literally). But I have to think of her care and I want her to be as comfortable as she can be, and she is close to my parents home, and it would be difficult because they could move her miles away so my parents couldn't go and see her every day.

I think that someone who steals something from someone so poorly and disabled is the scum of the Earth and death is too good a thing for them.

Rant over

Got my Grandma and Grandad in England (mums side) they only live 5 mins walk from me, if my maths is correct they are 71 and celebrated they're 50th Wedding anniversary last year.

Ive only got my Grandad left in Ireland but I'm not sure how old he is, only get to see him maybe once a year if I go over there, he's in a home though and has parkinsons so not sure if he really remembers me when I go and see him.

DLM... Aren't you like 45 or something!? Your parents and Grandparents were certainly early starters...

Never knew my grandparents...and my parents never talked about them even though they loved them so that makes it harder that I know nothing about them at all.
#38
dont know them on my fathers side as they all live in new zealand including my father havent seen him since i was 3 so dont remember him.
my grandad on my mums side died last year aged 89 but i didnt see him for years as my mum doesnt speak to her parents.
my gran is 98 and i havent seen her since i was about 5 coz of the same reasons above.
