I get mine for nowt "upto" 8 meg synching at 6. Never had a problem I can't sort out myself. Still looking to move ISP as sick of BT's traffic management. Whats talk talks phone support like? Not much good having fantastic online support if your problem is not being able to get online.

Maybe I'm missing something....

you've had a problem unresolved for over 12 hours with no indication of when it will be resolved... and you think that's good?

No it's an occasional DNS problem and I couldn't get on the site for 20 mins, find another company that contact you within 25 mins of them opening because of a facebook message left outside of working hours please.

Your ISP doesn't have 24/7 tech support?:?

£7.50 a month unlimited with O2 LLU (close to exchange) :)

I doubt I'd have a DNS problem because like I use OpenDNS rather than crappy ISP DNS servers.

£26 a month!

I get 8mb from o2 for £5 a month for the next 12 months & £7.50 after that if I stay with them. Never had any probs - no traffic shaping & no slow down at busy times.

8mb is the most I seem to be able to get where I live.

I was having DNS issues on O2 recently but have switched to OpenDNS as well. Good call :)

I wouldn't even consider sending a facebook message rather than giving support a call. If I didn't have 24/7 support, then I would email, but for 26 quid a month I would expect good phone support.

I still don't understand why you are happy with an unresolved problem. Are you just happy that they read facebook?

Don't get me wrong, it's good that you're happy with the service, but I'm curious as to what prompted the spontaneous outburst of seasonal goodwill to your supplier.

You can always check to see if it is a site problem using http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/

I've been an AOL customer for six years... I love em, they used to throttle my bandwidth from 6-11pm so I started downloading overnight and leaving the PC on... they soon gave up...

That faceplate still hasnt arrived! (And your PM box is full!):w00t:

I'm a bit miffed with myself. I was going to sort out an O2 connection for my old man (so I could get a couple of IP cameras setup and freesky).. Just dawned on me that the O2 offer with 3 months free expired yesterday!

Any other good deals are bargain prices? (He wont be using it to surf or download.)

I went for the O2 offer last week. Three months free and £125 cashback through quidco was hard to ignore. The thirty day guarantee swung it for me as I can bale-out if the service is not as good as I'm hoping. I've received my new router and should be on the new ISP on Friday.

In keeping with the "I love my ISP" theme of this thread - so far I've never left an ISP due to being disgruntled. I've only ever left to get a better deal, or additional services. Having said that, if I had to rely on my mobile broadband from 3 as my main ISP, it would be a different story.

Have a look at bethere.co.uk. O2 use the same network. They have a half-price offer on their 8Mb service, which looks good.

I assume he doesn't have Sky TV? Otherwise, he could get the basic package from them at no extra cost.

I don't get it, you say your close to the O2 LLU, but I'm 50miles away and mine seems rubbish:

No you're 50 miles from the speedtest not the exchange.

/facepalm.

Oh ok, not really clued up on broadband.

Need to get fibre optic, cos between the various ISP's I've had, and different 'speeds', I always get the same speed...
