Dodgy Chap Lurking In The Playground of my son's school should I report it?

Hi, I went to pick up my 4 year old son from kindergarten this afternoon just before 3:30pm and as the kindergarten closes after the school has finished there wasn't many parents/children about.

The kindergarten is right at the end of the school building and you have to access it through a door which leads onto the front of the school's playground.

Basically I took my 1yr old daughter to pick up my son 5 minutes before closing and usually leave her in her pushchair outside the glass door as there's very little room to bring her into the classroom and many parents do the same, but this time I took her in as there didn't seem to be many parents about obstructing the coridoor etc, but I did notice a young baby in his pram opposite the door and his mother was inside the classroom away from the door with her older child talking to the teacher.

Usually I'm in there for a good 5 minutes doing the same, but this time my son ran to me and we had a unusually pretty quick exit after briefly asking the teacher if he'd been good etc.

Anyway literally as I was about to step outside the door, I noticed a man wearing dark clothing with a big coat, boots, wooly hat pulled right over his head, and a thick scarf pulled right up to his nose, topped off with big thick glasses (it look like he was trying to hide his face) coming towards the kindergarten and within a second of me stepping outside the door he quickly turned around and changed direction and very quickly walked away.

It just seemed weird why he would be coming all the way to the end of the school if he wasn't collecting any children, and it wasn't like he was waiting for anyone as I saw him make a sharp exit out of the school grounds once he saw me. He was also over dressed, as it wasn't cold enough to be wearing all the winter layers he had on, it just seemed like he was trying to disguise himself, and I had this really weird feeling, which I've still got like something was wrong.

I didn't think to report it at the time, but since I've come home and thought about it more it's started to worry me and I'm wondering if it's just me being silly as it could have just been innocent and that I'm looking into things too much.

Whta do you think I should do, do you think I should worry?

You don't have to report it.

But just say a child goes missing tomorrow, whereas you mentioning this could have improved security measures at exactly the right time, how would you feel?

Think of the worst case scenario and whether you could deal with knowing you could have changed it.

Granted it could be nothing, but in this day and age you have to be careful.

For everyone asking the kindergarten is based inside what will be my son's infant school which he will be going to in September. They take them from 3 years old.
#16
Surely the answer to this is just common sense? If you think he was dodgy, tell someone, no harm in it is there.

call the police if genuinely concerned they will come and take a statement if they can find the time or they dont forget!

or create a photofit from your memory get a few other parents and some pitchforks etc and go hunt him down

I just wanted to gather people's opinions on whether I was maybe looking into things too much, as he didn't actually do anything and I didn't know whether I was just being an over the top suspicious parent, and it wasn't until much later this evening that I thought about it more.

Do you know if they have cameras in school playgrounds?? Will they be able to see an image of him if I give them an approx time etc.
#19
lol people are scared of anything these days, someone walks past a school there a peado, your falling into the mindset that they want you too. WE NEED MORE CAMERAS, we need more police on the streets.

in 10years there will be curfuls for 16 year olds, 50years after that, no1 can leave there house after 8pm.

welcome to big brother.

Why are you concerned about other schools cameras? oO I thought you were worried about the bloke they wouldn't be able to recognise as he was dressed in everything but 'i'm a paedo' sign. X)

I don't know how old the people are that are commenting on the word kindergarten, but there are quite a few around this area based in infant schools, and they even have proms in senior school now. Looks like the schools are being americanized

He's only been going since just before christmas, so I don't know about things like whether schools should or have cameras.

OP you are not from Newport are you ?......Ask him his name & if he refuses we have a match with the other thread.

Anyway thank-you for the people that helped. He's not at kindergarten tommorrow, but I'll phone the school just to let them know. And I know it sounds stupid, but I was just describing the way he genuinely was dressed regardless of the stereotype, that never popped into my head until people highlighted it.

OPs a peado trying to gain inside info on how the system works.

Gotcha.

Who knows who it was?? Simple answer to me is to just mention to the schoolteacher then they can be aware of him. May, may not be suspicious, but the school should be aware if he is there.
If he is there on legitimate business, no problem.

OK then we have 2 pedo's running wild.

Seems obvious, report it to the head teacher and they will deal with it from there
#35
You shouldn't worry about the creepy man outside the school it is probably just a distraction. If you'd have looked carefully you'd have seen the paedophile is the one actually dressed up as the school. Saw a news programme on it a few years back.

No, we used to call them kindergartens (I'm older generation) It's actually German isn't it.
Think they're just winding you up here (_;) I wouldn't bother paying any attention ;)

kindergarten is so wonnabe middle class, any pepo with any class at all will surely be lurking at and arouind a Montessori nursery

Op if you are really worried the best thing it to tell the school and let them deal with it. If they have cameras they can look at them, or if they have reports from any other parents they can act on them. No one on here could say anything for sure as they didn't see and couldn't possibly know if there are cameras. Ring the School in the morning and hopefully that will put your mind at ease.
