Does a PS3 play dvd's?

I know its a blu-ray player but does it also play dvd's or are the completely different things?

Have absolutely no idea (although I am aware that dvd players do not play blurays lol)

ru being funny? :thinking: ps3 games are blueray, as with some films redigitised on blueray.

PS3 plays blu-ray disks and normal CD's / DVDs
Normal DVD players only play DVD's, not Blu-Rays, if you want to play Blu-Rays you either need a dedicated blu-ray player or the PS3
