I love playing what most people would class as boring adventure games, such as syberia, broken sword, the longest journey (infact thats the only newish ones iv played, inc series of the same), where you dont have to fight/shoot things or have to be quick, its just mainly solving problems, milling around finding objects, talking to other characters etc etc. I just wondered if anyone else is into the same sortof games and could recommend any. I heard the monkey island series are good, dont know whether theyd be my type or not. I hate first person games thow, tried playing one of the mysts and it was first person (are they all like that?) Anyway, would like to know what you think. Thankyou

Monkey Island = :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Make sure you start with the first episode, though, as they all roughly follow on from each other, & you'll occasionally find yourself popping up in one of the earlier episodes.

Check out some of the Abandonware sites for classic Amiga & PC point and click adventures this was my favourite even better than Monkey Island IMHO http://www.abandonwaredos.com/abandonware-game.php?abandonware=Indiana+Jones+and+the+last+crusade&gid=MTI5NQ==

I've been a big fan of "Point and Click" adventures since I was a kid. The first I ever played was Maniac Mansion on my old Commodore 64 and still play it on the odd occasion to this day.

Some recommendations: Maniac Mansion (Obviously. The PC Enhanced version is the best). Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle, The Secret of Monkey Island, Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge, The Curse of Monkey Island, Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders, Loom, Sam and Max Hit the Road, Full Throttle, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Simon the Sorcerer and Grim Fandango

Some of them might be difficult to get a hold of, but it's possible you could find the likes of the Monkey Island series, Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle (includes Maniac Mansion as a 'hidden' in-game), Sam and Max Hit the Road and Grim Fandango on eBay. All are playable on the PC with a patch or ScummVM. The latter is the best option, which is merely a 'virtual machine' that will allow you to run the games, so long as you own them.

The first Monkey Island has been remade for Xbox Arcade, so that may be an option. There are also more recent additions to the Monkey Island and Sam and Max franchise out for the PC, however I haven't played them so I can't really comment. They still might be worth checking out though.
