They are pretty crap, they automatically send it back to the sender after 5 days. So maybe that's what happened to you.
Bit of a retarded way to run things.
#8
weird ive NEVER had a failed delivery and they have been spot on cant fault them

Probably why they changed their name to "Yodel" to try and get away from the reputation they have!

I like them, home delivery network are the worst though. Who the hell even uses them? Leaving parcels on my bin, on the door step with no note.
#11
i understand them sending it back but i paid fora pemium rate phone call to organise redelivery and then they still return rather than redeliver
#12
Down here they are known as sh***y link! Awful company, they once decided they couldn't be arsed to ring the doorbell and took it upon themselves to leave the parcel next to the bin for 'safekeeping', ON BIN COLLECTION DAY! You can guess what happened oO
#13
I think it depends on your area, I found them useless in Edinburgh and Dundee but excellent in the Highlands.

Nah myhermes are the worst citylink have never let me down either through parcelmonkey or direct I know the driver now and have his mob and vice versa so everyone is s winner :)

Citylink are terrible round here
They once told me they tried to deliver to a red door at 1.30pm and no one was in, which would be fine except it was a shopping centre open from 9am to 8pm, 24 hour security to take deliveries outside those times, and the colour scheme didn't have any red in it, so couldn't have possibly been a red door anyway.

same same

my local driver was outstanding, would even give me a bell on my mobile as i was often in the greasy spoon or post office

how about taking the time out to talk to your driver and getting them on your side rather than whiinging and complaining at everyone that stands in your path.....certainly isnt gonna get you any favours

How about they do their job properly then no one would need to complain?

sorry but im not aware of the circumstances of your local driver but if you can take the time to speak to him you may find out that his colleagues are off sick or they are short staffed and having to do more than their own route

but then again you could just complain abouot it without knowing the whole story and get everyones back up and have your parcels delivered or sent back as they please

choice is yours colin :) but not everything is black and white....you should know this

I complained about Citylink on this forum a short while ago.

As mentioned above they are atrocious here in Edinburgh, and the worst of it is that companies like Scan continue to use them depite the complaints they surely rack up. I think everyone should direct their complaints to the companies who use this courier, because citylink certainly don't give a sh8 about anyone who complains to them.

Its not that they screwed up, its the fact the girl on the phone insisted they delivered to the correct address and kept telling me there was no one in, and told me I was wrong. When it got delivered the following day I asked the driver where the red door was and how come he couldn't get in yesterday and he said he was off, and that the driver covering probably couldn't be arsed to deliver, so just put on the form it was a red door to cover his back.
I know mistakes happen, I couldn't care less about that, but when they lie and tell me I'm lying, thats when I get my back up.
I've had quite a few problems with cl here, and as such won't order from any company that uses them now.

It shouldn't make any difference! You are paying for a service not for a company to make excuses to why they are not doing what they are being paid to do!

had a decent service for them work all day was expected a parcel yesterday left a note on dorr asking to leave with neighbour got home and neighbour had parcel pretty happy saved me taking time off work to wait in

Citylink lobbed an external HDD over my locked gate. They knocked on the front door which we never used, as soon as I heard the knock I went downstairs to the back door and saw the package fly over the gate. By the time I unlocked the door and gate the driver had sped off.

You should have chased after him, made him a cup of tea and got to know him, then he could go back in time and deliver it properly :)

Up here in the sticks of God's Own Country I've always had good courier service.

The beautiful scenery probably soothes the drivers!

They're ok now but they used to be terrible round here.

When I first started getting packages from them they wouldn't even attempt delivery but would run up to the door pop through a card and then speed off. They've gotten a lot better though as now they at least make an attempt at delivery.

Do they make more money for redeliveries or is it purely a time thing? Would love to hear a City Link driver's pov.

No redelivery as I went to collect it.

There was no time on the card (as far as I remember) so I think it likely he had partially filled out a bunch of cards and when he fell behind he just stuck a few through doors. The reason I know he did this is because my next door neighbour watched him pull up, walk to my door, stick something through the letterbox and then jog down to his van and drive off without attempting to knock.

As i said home delivery network here are great they always leave parcels with neighbours ,not lobbed over gates etc lol

Myhermes are brill too,it's a lady driver and she leaves parcels with neighbours and she delivers on a Saturday too,or she will leave them in my designated safe place, she will also leave parcels with my sister and vice versa

A lot of problems i feel are down to individual drivers, not the companies as a whole as demonstrated by this thread.
#31
sorry casper but for me to ge to know him he wouldhave to turn up not just retun to sender instead as for sickness short staff other couriers get cover in as does royal mail so why shouldnt they

I used to work for citylink unfortunatley!!!
the drivers are mostly good, but you always get some which are useless!
they are told not to leave goods without a signature and not leave with neighbours
so they end up with a lot of failed home deliveries, around christmas is worse because they deliver a lot of amazon deliveries
there are some of the drivers which have a habit of if its between 9am-5pm and its a home delivery
then nobody will be in!!!
the automated system you call to arrange re-delivery doesnt work 80% of the time
they were upgrading this system when i left 3 years ago!
to be fair a lot of the drivers are covering quite large areas now where as before they used to just have a couple of postcodes

Edited By: funkinghellfire on Nov 03, 2010 15:44: just add a bit more

City link are the worst!!! i have had 4 really bad experinces with them now--i think its because most of thier drivers are self employed and have no KPI's to be accounted to.
#35
Had to make a complaint today regarding one of their drivers who blocked 3 drivers in 2 directions rather than simply backing straight up. When I put the window down in my car to ask him what he was doing, he just stared at me and then waived with a smirk on his face when I drove through a very tiny gap in order to prevent any further hold ups for the 2 other cars. Deliberantly obstructive, disrespectful, rude and ignorant.

We use CITY LINK Courier twice ..only, both items were damaged!!!!!!!!! How to break a back of a chair made of solid mahogany????????? Have they used horses to go through it???????? we'll never use them again, it's ridiculous!
banned 1 Like #37
They've delivered hundreds of items okay, I think out of all that 2 have gone wrong and I've had to collect because there customers services are totally useless, they don't have a clue!

They are an absolute waste of time. 3 times they assured me a parcel would be delivered after each time no delivery (3 times I waited in all day) then when I call them (and wait on the phone for another hour!) they tell me they are sorry but it has been sent back to the sender!!!!!!!!!!!! And wait for it they don't know who arranged for the deliveries at their end as there are just notes on their screen and they don't have to put their names!!!! Save yourself time and money USE ANOTHER COURIER!!!!!!

item been collected, item been scanned at at the collection depot and are now on route to delivery depot, items have successfully arrived at delivery depot and are ready for delivery, goods have been loaded onto a van for delivery, FOUR DAYS LATER AND STILL AWAITTING DELIVERRY, no one can tell me where goods are. Parcel monkey impossible to get in touch with bye phone. i,ll never use parcel monkey again . Ruined my christmas.

We have been using City Link and I have to say they are a total pile of ****! You would be better employing a trained chimp than to use them. All they have to do is pick up a pacel and deliver it. They make a total mess of everything. The drivers we have seen have been surly and stupid. Avoid City Link like the plague!
