Also do check with your insurance as some policies require you get dr's approval before driving again:)

day case but took ages to heal and was told not to drive for 2 weeks

I went back to work after then but you don't realise how much you strain that part of the body, didn't help mates making me laugh

from NHS website

Driving
You can drive as soon as you can make an emergency stop without discomfort in the wound. This will take one-to-two weeks.

I must have been a wuss lol

My friend had it removed.
4 day later was driving a little ie 15/20 mins
He said that the pain from key hole op was less than when gb flared up so a good deal

Normally 6 weeks after open surgery and 2 weeks after keyhole.
Is there a reason why you are having open surgery?
Is it gall stones?

At least it's gall bladder, not something like a ritual disembowelling. Now THAT takes some guts.

Thanks everyone for advice, i have been for my pre op this morning and they said i can drive as soon as i feel capable of doing an emergency stop. They are going to try keyhole first but may need open, i will just have to wait and see.
