Re-Flow the CPU and GPU, do a backup then trade that sucker in for a shiny new slim.

Unless you can get your YLOD PS3 started up again, you're out of luck I'm afraid.

- You can't attach the PS3 hard drive to your PC as it uses a proprietary filesystem, unreadable by Windows (or Linux, Mac... anything)
- If you put the old hard drive in a new PS3, it will require a mandatory reformat - wiping all your old data. From what I understand, the hard drive is locked down to one console and if you want to use it in a new one - it requires a reformat.

I really wish this wasn't the way as I accidentally deleted my GT5 save game and there's no way of getting it back.. If the PS3 HDD was readable on my PC I could of run a data recovery utility :(

P.S. The exploit wouldn't help either unfortunately. The only thing you'd be able to do with that is install a FTP server on the broken PS3, and copy the data to your PC - but obviously you'll need the PS3 to stay alive during the data transfer. Might as well use the built in backup feature if you do manage to get it working again, even if it is only for a little while..
