I have had a DS lite, DSi and now an XL, I never noticed any screen bleed on the first two however It is on my XL, whenever the screen is black you can see it in the bottom left and slightly in the bottom right.
I could live with it I guess but it just annoys me its there, anyone else noticed it? I wonder if they all do it or has mine just been bodged together?

Cheers Jake and have a happy new year.

Its quite common, just google "DSi XL backlight bleeding" to find quite a few posts about the problem. I find its only really visable on dark coloured screens as you said, but its still really annoying. I exchanged my first DSi XL because it was so bad (That and it had two deal pixels, one on each screen) my current one still has it slightly but not as bad as the first, so it seems to be pot luck. You could try and exchange it and hope you get a better one, but be prepared for other possible problems such as loose hinges, wobbly top screen, creaky casing, dead pixels etc

cheers for replies, to be honest im **** off, nintendo have let quality control slip, my top screen (hinge) is loose, moves about half cm when it should be locked in place, took it back to game who said they didnt know what screen bleed is wtf! useless, then when they saw it refused to swap it as its not a known fault! think ill call nintendo get them to sort it out, wish i had not sold my dsi now!
