Does anyone use the Wii Fit to lose weight? Does it work?!

I was just wondering if anyone here actually uses their Wii Fit to lose weight / exercise? If so, does it actually work or is it all just a gimmick?

I have had my Wii Fit since release and I have never really used it for it's actual purpose and to be honest, have rarely used it since I got it!

I want to try and exercise more but don't want to be forking out £50 a month for gym membership.

Do you think if I used the Wii Fit regularly it would do the job?

No no and no

Its a gimmick

The wii fit is the biggest joke ever, low stock, every one rushes out to buy it, OMG it's in stock I must buy!!!!!

Good joke.

You buy it, you weigh yourself, you play for 5 minutes, you get bored, not sure how many calories you burn on dusting the damn thing tho':) 'cos that's all I do to mine, lol

I guess you must lose some weight if you play on it every day, but hey, who does that?

That is the thing though, I do plan to use it every day (well I say that now, lol).

I really just want to exercise more as I really don't exercise enough anymore and the weight is starting to creep on.

My missus uses it everyday when I'm at work and the nippers having a kip, she runs and does kick boxing also but she reckons it's helped with her weight loss.

Erm ok, first of all I am not overweight I am saying I want to do more exercise and lose a bit of weight, maybe a few pounds. I am a Size 10, I don't want to go any smaller than that.

Secondly, I eat healthily and do plenty of walking it is just that I have been a bit slack recently with my exercising so I have put on some weight. I use to go to the gym but didn't renew my membership as I couldn't get there everyday so I didn't see the point of paying a ridiculous amount of money for something I wasn't getting full use of.

I don't really appreciate your comments, you obviously seem to think I am a fat slob!

I am simply asking if it is worth trying out the Wii Fit rather than rejoining a gym!

Try it, as I said my missus swears by it, and she can fit in in when the nipper is kipping. Judging by some of the comments mind, she should leave the nipper asleep whilst she goes for a run/jog.

I totally disagree with you here

Thank you to the people who made the useful comments.

I am going to try out the Wii Fit for a month using it everyday for an hour or so. If I feel that it isn't doing that much then I will rejoin my gym.

I walk loads already. I usually walk to work each morning (about six miles) and sometimes walk home.

Since you already have it, why don't you just try it out instead of asking on here?

I am thinking outside the box,as I am in Rio, so bare with me. :)

I bought a wii fit in February, I've always been very slim but put on weight when I had problems with my thyroid - found it very difficult to shift but have used the wii almost every day and I'm now well on the way to being my original weight. I find it really suits me, it motivates me and I prefer it to going to the gym as it's cheaper and you don't waste time getting there and back. Good luck.

of course it helps!

movement = calorie loss (unless you're eating one of the ginsters £1 slurry bargains at the same time!)

enough said (apart from this is one of the dumbest questions ever posted lol)

In all seriousness, I believe its quite a good aid to lose weight. The only benefit of a £50 gym membership is that you mentally force yourself into getting your money's worth whereas it's quite difficult to brush off the cobwebs from your balance board when its under the sofa.

I get more exercise on mine through dusting it monthly!

The most overhyped gadget in history on a par with the Sinclair C5!
#32
I must admit I haven't used mine since falling down the stairs and tend to just dust it instead too lol

Concentrate on the stepper one too - I found that the 10 minute free step done 3 times a day was getting me fitter but like I said, not been on since the fall (I should do though).
