Does anyone use TVersity to stream videos to an Xbox 360?

I've tried to set up video streaming on my swanky new xbox 360 (because that what I want to use it for mainly!) and after lots of fiddling have finally managed to get it to see my computer and access the folders set up in TVersity's sharing tab.

However, when I access a folder through the 360 which contains video files I just get the message: "No video files found, you can watch video content from xbox live marketplace, a dvd, data disc, or a portable device, or by connecting to a windows based pc."

Why is this? The video files are there and I cannot find any solution on the net! Any ideas????

Out of interest what type of file are you trying to view? if it's just Divx then you can stream direct from Windows Media player to xbox.

I have been using TVersity for the last few weeks, as i wanted to stream video taken on my digital camera. It has been working pretty well, no problems accessing the files, just some codec issues which now seem sorted.

Out of interest, can you view the files and play them on your pc through the TVersity interface (under library) ?
Maybe give WMP a go and not Tversity, but if you need file formats that Xbox does not natively support, you will need Tversity.

I'll have a think and post back if I have any more suggestions...

Just one more thing, does mp3 and pictures work ?

Unfortunately I can't use windows media player since the majority of the files are in formats not supported by the 360. Grrr. Playing the files through TVersity on the PC does work which confuses me. I haven't tried streaming audio and pictures, I'll try that now.

Some people have been telling me that if I'd bought an original Xbox I wouldn't be having these problems since they worked flawlessly. How long did it take for software to come out for the original machine and do you think it will be around any time soon for the 360?

I'd be happy doing this for the time being, but they are all in file formats not supported by the 360. :x

Lol this is the guide that I followed actually! I'm going to try uninstalling everything and working through it again though, in case I made a boo boo!

I can do this, but most of my video files are in a format that the 360 cannot play. I need some software that converts the video as and when is required. I could go through all my files and convert them myself, but going through 2tb worth would take too long!

I've also heard that Transcode 360 does the job, but I'm running a standard version of Windows XP, so it won't work on my computer!

Turn ya firewall off when using TV m8

EDIT: go to TV's website, there is also the forums you can check out.

Support for Xbox 360 2007 Fall update is here:

Make sure you have ffdshow :

Im running TV 09.10.07 which is an old build, worked perfect with my 360 and was quite surprised it worked straight off with my PS3. I did get the problem you are encountering from time to time though.

I'm not convinced it's a codec problem though, as it's not even showing the files when he browses the folders.

But if you do get to view the files then as mentioned make sure you have ffdshow installed. A good one is K-lite, has ffdshow and lots of other codecs often required for tversity.

I use Orb and found it much easier to set up and use.
