My car has just failed its MOT because of the windscreen I was going to claim through the insurance for a new one but even though it says it wont effect your no claims bonus ive read on the net loads of people who have done that and it was put down as a claim and affected their next years premium? Also if i do go through the insurance how quickly do they sort it out?

TIA

I have had windscreen work done previously and it did not affect my bonus. But check the small print as it may have changed or be different on your policy

nope not at all (well, never has for me)

I think a repair is free with no excess, but replacement means you have to pay excess. Neither affects your NCB though.

As soon as the local windscreen company was able to fit me in. I think a couple of days..

how big is the damage on your windscreen?

if it is a stonechip, it can be repaired cheapliy. any bigger and the windscreen needs to be replaced.

most insurance companies will let you have a stonechip repaired for free, not affecting next years insurance cost. but budget insurance packages don't. ring up your insurance company and idscuss the options with them.

I'm 3rd party fire and theft, i had to pay for my windscreen, autoglass repair quoted me £1550 for a rear window, i was shocked, so they said we could do a deal for £1350!

I called local windscreen companies and got it fitted for £177

Ridiculous

if it is a stone chip it can be sorted out today. its only a 20 min job. there are lots of places, your insurance company will find the nearest place for you.

your insurance company HAS to arrange it for you. don't get conned by autoglass saying they will contact your insurance company, that way you may be caught out.

wow! thats what i call damage!

i doubt this is a free one.

get some quotes for a new windscreen from phone book. then ring insurance company and compare prices.

probably cheaper to pay yourself.

dependant on your insurance company, but normally, a windscreen claim will not affect your NCB as it is classed as NON fault. If it needs to be replaced (sounds like it does) you will need to pay your excess, normally between £60-£70 dependant on your insurance company. If the windscreen had been damaged because of say vandalism then this would go down as a vandalism claim and more than likely would affect your NCB , again dependant on your insurance company, however, it seems that the cracks have happened because of neglect. Remember if you have FULL protection of your NCB then your NCB would not be reduced. A tip: when ringing round for insurance quotes Always check how many claims you are allowed before your protection is removed, some insurance co only allow you 1 claim in 1 year or 2/3 claims in 5 years etc. The best for the consumer is companies who offer real protection with UNLIMITED CLAIMS.Hope this helps.

Well, you will go buying Lamborghinis without thinking of the running costs!

Seriously, what was that quote for?

I think it's only included if you have fully comp, and if you have got fully comp - it shouldn't affect your premium
