The padlock you see on shopping websites etc is a security seal. Websites need one when dealing with money. A lot of sites also use this for login in areas to email accounts etc.

Just ignore it unless you are giving out credit card info etc

Delete any crap that's on their, like messenger's (yahoo espaically). Most pc's now have hundreds of apps added to them. A lot of the apps like Yahoo messenger constantly connects to the internet and lags a lot on slower connections.

Extremely tedious isn't it.

The Yahoo stuff is probably for the messenger integration - part of the options on your profile.

It will be loading the images, online/offline from the yahoo servers maybe (dont use y! messenger so dunno).

Could you not ask someone you know about this, rather than thread after thread of IT issues? Or maybe ask all the questions in one thread?

yahoo toolbar installed maybe? might not show in there. right click on internet explore/firefox's taskbars, and see if its listed.

(come on kids, help sassie out. we might get upwards of 5 mins before the next I.T. issue)

i have never noticed it before, and googled it, it did make some sense but then it started to waffle and lost me:oops:

its just basically companies keeping an eye on how many views they get, how many pages are visited in those views, how many people just click on their site and leave (bounce rate), what search terms are being entered into google for people to click on their site, which areas of country seem to go onto their site more. etc etc.

its a very good reporting tool for webmasters to use.

used in conjuction with Pay Per Click advertising is very effective although it can be costly depending on search terms and amount of competition.

:)

some of the nastier cookies can, google is alright though. Check out what they can do with the information they collect, if you can't be bothered to watch they tracked a woman down from all the searches she did.

to see how many people are visiting the site and where they are coming from,

more people visit the site = more chance people will click on deals = more money for hukd remember
