You HAVE to jailbreak it, if you really have to own one.. so who cares if it voids warranty
#3
It doesn't void warranty just restore it before you send it in for repair/replacement

If it doesn't void your warranty why do you need to restore it then?

you can't unvoid a warranty.

you know full well its not that simple.

Apple say jailbreaking voids warranty becaue you modify their software. However, as seemingly everyone in the world but you knows, if you restore it the apple store staff will not check its history.

Simple answer is: Yes, but who cares - jsut restore it in the event of a problem and they won't know.

What if the problem is a faulty dock connector, someone has jailbroken it, they take it in, get told to get lost because the warranty is voided because they listened to your rubbish.

Serves them right

Read what you have quoted again mate, they will repair it as long as it's restored, says nothing about warranty in that quote :) see I can be technical too mate, OP basically wants to know if his jailbroken iPhone will be able to be sent in for repair and I've basically stated (not exactly worded) that as long as it's restored, it'll be fine. This ain't a life determing exam where I must tell him that you won't be able to get a jailbroken iPhone repaired unless you restore it which will unjailbreak it meaning it will not be the same state that the OP is questoning and my answer would be void, instead I ASSUME the OP wouldn't mind the circumstances caused by my answer.*

You know in a french exam assumptions make the difference between a C and an A.

How will they know about your warranty?

Only benefit of jailbreaking for me personally was the unlock when i had an iPhone 2G.

With an iPhone 3G/3GS i just don't see the point when i have one officially unlocked.

Plenty of apps on the apple app store and changing ya dash isn't exactly that exciting.

I'd leave it if i were you mate :). Some people just think it gives them kudos because they can plug a phone into a PC and run a jailbreaking program..

As people said, would you really want the dock connector to break or the battery to **** up and then face a hefty repair bill because you jailbroke it.

from your first post in this thread, to your last, you have spoke nothing but utter rubbish.

dcx what is up with you at the moment? You seem to be doing this a lot at the moment. Like an anti-troll who only posts incorrect advice. You can't claim its me, because most of the time its other users pulling you up on the garbage you come out with.

Do you want me to buy you a christmas present? Would that make you feel better?

(in answer to your question... I'd delete from settings, then stick it into DFU mode (home+power 10 seconds, release power) and take it in. Next.....)

You can't restore it if the dock connector is broken. I'm not saying you can't justrestore it, but I don't think you should make it out to be totally riskless either.

Yes you can. You could also put it into restore mode , cancel half way through and have it stuck on "connect to itunes" screen.

the porter
If your so unucky that the dock connecter is broken then you would just go settings general reset erase all content and settings

I think there are other issues here porter, I'm gonna leave him to it, I don't want to be bullying at christmas. We've made it clear anyway, lets leave him to get on with whatever his aim is.
