hi everyone,
i want to buy a domain name so i can use it as an email address:

i.e. amansk.com and put an email address on it.
i.e. [email protected] and i can use my blueyonder email address to receive the emails i guess?

im so confused though, who do i trust to buy from, whats involved, can i only buy for one year?

if anyone can shed any light on this, through personal experience, that would be great.

cheers

first thing i would do would be to remove the name of the domain that you wish to buy from here so that someone does not steal it from you.

second... if your are gonna buy a .com domain then the cheapest ive found that still give a good service is www.namecheap.com

you can buy for one year, and namecheap will let you forward emails to your blueyonder address.

Just be sure who you buy it from allow you to forward the mail as not all of them do.

Godaddy do allow it, although I don't know how competitive their prices are.

i'll check that, though, doesnt sound as easy as I want to make it out to be?
does the mail have to pass through the domain name providers systems first then fowarded to my ISP email address?

I use godaddy and a .info domain is about 70p a year with free forwarding which I point to my yahoo email addy. I set one address up for forwarding and set it as a catch all address so as I can put what I want before the @ takes around minutes to buy and set up.

1and1 do free forwarding so you could get a .co.uk for £3.51 A year (including VAT) and could easily forward to your blueyonder address.

Hello
Why not get a free one from Microsoft Office Live - go through Quidco for a 50p reward.
