Domestic flights in the US.

Is it cheaper to book domestic flights in the US, rather than booking them here before I go?

If so, does anyone have any websites etc. I'm going crazymental trying to find out prices, has anyone had any experience of doing this that could help me?

Also, has anyone used an air pass in the US?

Rep for anyone who helps.

Book here. If you book a holiday or flights online, add them in. US residents are always moaning about cost of internal flights. Try Expedia as a start, then go to moneysavingexpert.com and look for Flights offered by screen scrapers.

Best of luck.

Anyone else?

I'm booking something today so I need heeeeeeeeelp.

where do you need to go?...there are loads that screenscrapers do not cover, also if you want to fly direct or not makes a big difference

It's not that I 'need' to go anywhere, but basically a friend and I are going over there for a month and we want to go to as many places as possible. This is a vague plan:

London - San Francisco - LA - San Diego - Tijuana - Las Vegas - Toronto - New York - Washington - London

I think we're going to drive the portion from San Fran - Las Vegas, but we're trying to work out the best way to get between other places, and we don't really want to spend large portions of time on coaches or buses.

San Fran to LA(although you 100% need a car for LA) ,is a big drive its an easy fly loads of airlines

How long are you in Tijuana for?...not much there except bars and hookers....easier to bus it over from San Diego(which is brilliant)

Las Vegas to Toronto will be expensive..Air Canada is normally the cheapest and vice versa to NYC

NYC to Washington(also a great city) use American Eagle very small short hop plane less than 100 USD(usually) or a couple of hours on the train...

Would probably best not to book anything except the UK flights and the Canada flight in advance so you are not stuck to such a tight schedule

Try Boston if you can another brill city much better than NYC imo

The SF-LA-SD-LV drive was our original plan so I think we're going to stick with it, because that's what we wanted to do in the first place.

Not long in Tijuana, we're doing the bus thing.

My friend wants to put Florida in there somewhere...?!

Would we be better flying from Las Vegas to Florida (?!) and then travelling upwards and flying back to London from Toronto...or the opposite?

phone them up also, i looked at booking something similar last summer with delta, was around £300 cheaper to ring them up and book, so glad i got an error when trying to book online :D

Yep,assuming you want to visit Miami?

Cheaper to fly into Fort Lauderdale than MIA itself....easy drive to South Beach area

Then much easier to go up..Boston,Washington,NYC can be done by bus/train or plane

There is a lot more in Canada than Toronto as well....maybe leave that for another trip?

Okay so how is this:

London - San Francisco (plane)

San Francisco - LA - San Diego - Tijuana - Las Vegas (car)

Las Vegas - Fort Lauderdale (plane)

Random drive around Florida

...then where am I going to fly out of? - Washington (plane)

Washington - Philidelphia - New York (train/bus)

New York - Toronto (plane)

Toronto - London (plane)

Err...yes?

Ok so we are adding Philadelphia now!!!(its crap honestly)....please try Boston

Any major airport in Florida will fly you to Washington, depends where you end up....

Everything else looks good though but it may be cheaper for a return form NYC to Toronto and using your UK return from NYC to London(but check that first)

Train(and the stations) are much better then the buses....total pants and can be in dodgy areas(in LA its in Compton/Watts!!)

What's in Boston?

Also, what would you suggest for the whole Florida idea? I.e. if we fly into Port Lauderdale and get a car, what should we be seeing and how?

I will check the NY/Toronto stuff. Only thought it might be easier to fly back out of Canada because a lot of the return flights from LA (which we were looking at first) stop in Canada.

I'll bear in mind about the trains thing.

My friend is trying to put Hawaii in. Someone help me.

Man Alive!!!

How long are you going for,you will also need a mortgage at this rate

Forget Hawaii...

Boston,so much to do,shops, tours, home of Dunkin Doughnuts etc etc..have a google

Florida is enormous, again it depends on what you like...Miami is a obvious one,Aventura on the outskirts is good for Spa's and Shopping(used to live there)but the rest of it depends if you want to do the disney thing with loads of tourists and all that crap...also the everglades and loads of brilliant beaches/wildlife

I think you are trying to see too much tbh

Okay forget Hawaii and Philidelphia. Washington - New York on a train...is that ok?

Miami - Washington on a plane I think will be the best. I'm not sure how bothered I am about the rest of Florida because I don't like theme parks...what else is there in Florida? I give up on that.

I'm not sure about Boston. It doesn't really...fit. Google is hurting my head.

This whole thing is hurting my head.

Just quickly out of all the places I've mentioned...which places would you actually recommend I went to? I will send you some chocolates.

So if I do the drive on the West Coast up to Vegas, fly to Port Lauderdale from there...look at Miami for a bit then fly out from there to Washington...Washington to New York and then to Toronto (you can't stop me!) then back to the UK from either Toronto or New York.

Yes?!

So jealous!!!!!!

Anyway in LA just for day to day visiting places the public transport is really good and only $1.25 per journey (train or bus). Even my hour long bus to santa monica was like 90p.

You can come.

When are you going? What's your budget?

August. We don't have a budget, that's why the planning is a nightmare!
