Got a replacement phone from applecare and they didn't call back for about 2 months for me to return it so I took it apart and tried to change the home button and ended up breaking the home button and putting 3 black splodges on the inner LCD itself (glass not broken)

9 weeks later (today they phoned me)

Asking to arrange a pick up...ummmm what can I do lol

Why would they wait 9 weeks?

Send it back and say it got damaged in transit and hope they dont say anything more.

You can't do nothing send it back as it is and say it probably got damaged in transit have they got your cc details? if not then i wouldn't worry about it.

I shouldnt laugh....but!!!
Id try the transit bit too if they dont have your cc details.
Not that I'm dishonest in any way. lol.

It was your own fault tbh, you knew the would ask for it sooner or later.
They'll more than likely know it has been opened so just 'fess up and explain the situation honestly, the CS for Apple are normally super and you can use the 9 week waiting time between the new one arriving and the phonecall for collection as your argument as to why you thought it worth trying to repair yourself.

I'm thinking of paying to get the screen fixed tbh costs £90 through someone I know.

But d'you think they'll open it up upon recieving it ?

can't you say you've binned it/lost it as they hadn't contacted for so long?

That's not very believable is it lol it's a £600 mobile phone.

I was thinking of saying this:

I had the phone on stand by for some time because I was not using it and picked it up one day and noticed it was very hot and I noticed the 3 black splodges on the screen (first thought was that something melted inside of the phone itself and caused this on the screen) so I turned it off and left it for 10 minutes and it didn't get any cooler so I took the back off and took the battery out and left it overnight to cool down. I then put it back together the next day and noticed the home button had stopped working and the black splodges were still there.

Does that sound at all believable? lol

What was the reason for the replacement in the first place?

Maybe they bled to death?

Maybe tell them it was left lying around for such a long time the kids got to it? Sounds like a big kid had really got to it, so not entirely untruthful.

Well it is if they haven't contacted you for over 2 months!!!

And it's hardly a £600 phone if it's broken is it........
