Donate £1 to abandoned dogs for free. Pedigree Adoption Drive, aiming for 100,000 views

I just saw this in the Money Saving Expert email they send out. I love dogs as do many and by simply watching a video £1 will be donated towards helping abandoned dogs in the UK.

I'm not sure if you have to be signed up to Youtube and logged in for your click to count.

Once the video has been viewed 100,000 times, Pedigree will have reached its target of £100,000 worth of donations.

Info......

Last year over 107,000 dogs were abandoned in the UK and one abandoned dog was put down every hour. This year Pedigree wants to change this fact.

Help us by adopting a dog, donating money or simply by making sure as many people as possible see this YouTube Channel page.

Paste a link into your facebook status, tweet it, email it or send it as a text message.

We're looking to improve the lives of thousands of dogs across the UK - not to mention the dog in the video. For the first 100,000 views, we will donate £1 - see below for details.

*For every viewing of an episode of Charlie's story, Mars Petcare will donate £1 to the PetPlan Charitable Trust (Registered Charity Number 1032907), up to a maximum of £100,000. Terms and conditions apply - please visit pedigreeadoptiondrive.com

Someone just voted cold it was in the 50's and now it's down to 44, unbelievable!

I didn't post this to get heat mind you, I posted it purely for the information. Voting cold on this though is like killing a dog yourself!

While I agree that anyone voting cold doesn't have a heart, don't you think this statement is a bit much?

Oh well I suppose the person who has moved this into misc has not only just stamped a puppy to death but ripped the ears off every bunny wunny rabbit in Norfolk.

Shame on the dog killers.

(the ridiculous dog killing statement from yourself not only meant I'd have voted cold but that poor charlie never got my £1 from any viewing or clicking of links.)

Looks like a cheap advertising campaign for Pedigree. Just donate £100,000 if that's what they want to do.

That's what the cynic in me says anyway.

The cynic in me noticed that too. It's basically just a viral advert for Pedigree and PetPlan Insurance. On the other hand, the spiteful troll in me in cooperation with the two or three good brain cells that still remain figured that clicking the vid would cost me nothing, would cost giant corporation something, and might help pay to make an ickle puppie's day a bit nicer, so I clicked all the same.

Despicable post from someone who simply can't see this for what it is. Its an advert, the £100k is a smokescreen. It isn't a deal at all.

Your cynicism is well placed.

You say it will cost you nothing and a giant corporation something. I put it to you that it will cost Pedigree nothing - it will be money already reserved for charitable donation (which may end up costing it nothing through tax breaks) yet it will increase the prevalance of exactly this type of viral advertising. I also would suggest that it leads people to think that they have themselves done something charitable - which they haven't - and may discourage people from donating to a given charity themselves. My very cynical 2p worth, but given the sentiment in some of the earlier posts I think it is well-founded.

It doesn't matter about the ins and outs, it's just a click.

I didn't post it in deals. It was in freebies, don't see why it still isn't really, it's a free £1 donation to a good cause.

Rather that than it ripping a baby's face off.

"Oh don't worry, he won't hurt you".

If they gave two sods about the dogs at all they'd give the money without me watching the videos.
