So i'll assume you never watched it then?

I was told to watch it.

The bit on mobiles was the biggest pile of rubbish I've ever heard. They obviously decided 'lets make it as inflammatory as possible and avoid all the facts' !

Last time I watch that !

I forget the guys name, but some guy who had his phone stolen in, I think, Malaga. Contracted the wrong place to get it blocked and the got a bill for £3333. and few pence.

Littlewood goes off on one about the network not doing ANYTHING about fraud !

Well, I'm sorry I work as a fraud investigator for one of the networks and for a start it wasn't fraud, it was theft.

No the guy who had the problem...their was someone who was apparently interviewed about it because of something the network could have done...called Andrew Walker.

I work there so yeah I know him. Heard rumours about it in work but no-one could actually tell because we were all in work when it was on...and we didnt get told officially about it which normally we do because it can lead to loads of calls.

I had to feel sorry for him. The question had little to do with the problem.

The guy had his phone stolen while roaming but the questions all avoided the roaming issue and just said something like 'this guy had his phone stone and the network did nothing'.

I know these are entertainment shows rather than real consumer programs, but they create more problem for other people !

The rumour went round saying it was daft him being on it, he kept referring Dom to Ofcom as they're the regulator but Dom said he was told by Ofcom to come to us. Why didnt Dom just go back to the regulator and say this...the regulator are bigger than we are anyway, so if the network didnt do anything then it's because the regulations say they dont have to...so they have to change and thats Ofcom's decision.

The whole thing was a rant piece to be honest, just an excuse to have a go at the big bad networks.

The guy could have got it sorted on his own if he'd done the right things at the right time. He said that he'd had letters from debt collectors, so he'd obviously left it rather than doing anything about it (you know how long it take to get passed to an agency!).

Ok, it was complicated by being both CPW and O2 and he'd reported the loss to O2 via the website rather than CPW by phone. But it was still sortable.

It was the fact that, as far as the program was concerned, there was no difference between losing a phone in the UK and losing a phone while roaming.

Part of the issue is that calls made abroad take longer to hit the network than calls made within UK and in most cases cost a lot more too. So it leads to bigger bills if it's not reported correctly. If he'd come to us for help/assistance (which he may have done) then we'd have said nothing we can do, if he didnt report the theft/loss correctly then he's responsible.

Don't I know it.

One of my jobs to to process the TAP files from the other networks. A great job first thing in the morning !

He also said that the networks don't call you if they see high usage. I do that on a daily basis...

We get complaints from people who have been cut off because they went abroad and made a few calls and ran up an abnormal bill so the network restricted the calls to prevent theft...they then complain when a thief runs up a high bill because the network didnt restrick the calls. Companies cant win lol.

A total no win scenario.

I've called people and been complained at for making them do a security check while their on holiday ! You get comments like 'Its my phone I'll do what I like with it!' and then when you tell them they've used £100 they come out with "Why have you let me do that !'
You just can't help some people.
