Double edge shave

Hi, I've been looking into changing my shaving routine, i.e. what I use with what accessories, (with alot of useful advice of posters on here) and I keep reading the odd member who mentions a double edge razor, and how they are the way forward

Just wanted to get posters experience with these if they have used them, and are they as good as people make out, as the initial investment is pretty hefty, even if replacing the blades is alot cheaper!

Thanks in advance for any replies

Sod paying that! Mines a lot cheaper : £3.99

As to whether they're better...

Pros, they do seem to shave better because you can slacken the blade slightly and they don't get clogged up as easily. Even if they do clog they're quick to clean. Good if you want to shave a beard etc.

Cons, the slightest sideways movement and you slice yourself

Shaving is all about the prep, the 1/2 hour after you have a shower (including your normal facial skincare routine ie face wash etc) in the morning is prime for shaving, the pores on your facial skin are open and your skin is suitably hydrated for a shave. I prefer a shave foam for shaving, I use the Real Shaving Company Shaving Cream for sensitive skin (double concentrated), its very good and lasts as you only need a small amount to make a decent lather. A nice sink of hot water for cleaning your razor of hair and foam, again I use a Gillette mach turbo which is fine for the job. Once you have finished, rinse in the hot water and then rinse again with the coldest water from the tap to close the pores up again. A good moisturiser 5/10mins after this will freshen and smooth your skin making nice and clear.
