Double glazing/replacement doors and windows advise - Supaglazing v Anglian
I'm after a bit of advise from all you lovely people :o)
I'm looking to replace 6 windows and 1 door with new double glazing. Just had a guy round from Supaglazing who work in the South East and he quoted £2720 - no messing around with discounts etc. that's the price you pay, take it or leave it. I liked his approach.
Tomorrow I'm expecting someone from Anglian so hope that's not hard sell.
Both companies have been recommended to me and I'll go for whoever's cheapest but wondered if anyone else has any recommendations or experience with either of these companies?

Jump to unread Post a CommentI'd not really heard of Supaglazing before but I have a new neighbour who has just had new windows which look really nice. I knocked on their door and asked them who did it and whether she was pleased with it. I have to say that the man who came round was really nice (even told me I didn't need a new back door as there is nothing wrong with mine and would be silly to spend money I didn't need to). The price is as it is with no silly discounts etc. Will see how it goes with Anglian tomorrow!!
I went with a local company (Strata) & only went with them because my friend had had hers done & was very happy.
My mum used to work for Anglian so have heard a lot of horror stories! (Not trying to put you off!!)
Depending on the difference in quote prices, I'd probably go with the quote you have now. Do you know anyone who's had windows from Anglian? Word of mouth counts a lot with window companies imo.

My parents have had 3 houses 'done' by Anglian and recommends them. I was actually pleasantly surprised with the quote I got today and having just spoken to my neighbour found that they did discount their quote when she rung after their visit so maybe I can even get them down a little bit!?
I might investigate this thanks. Though then you have the finding a good reliable and reasonably priced builder! Hmmmm
Any builder that knows which end of a screwdriver to hold should be able to install them. Protech make the units based on your measurements so you must follow their instructions carefully.
you need building regs for new windows or some one who is CERTASS or FENSA registered, do your new windows comply ??
once again CERTASS or FENSA ??
Or apply to Local Authority Building Control dept fee about £100 covers whole house.
ahh, but when you come to sell :whistling:
windows been in now 10 years and all is good.
its a shame when people give poor advice on this website, building regs, Certass or Fensa are there to protect YOU the consumer, they were introduced to clean up the industry, why would a decent builder avoid building regs/certass ?
wasnt Fensa introduced 2002? Our windows were installed 2000 and we paid £70 for a buildings inspector to come inspect afterwards and we were issued with a certificate - this certificate states our double glazing meets all required standards. etc.

Oh now you mention you had building regs, well you won't have any problems then:thumbsup: (must get to work, plenty of windows to fit)
