Ok so i got a new laptop
this one infact

http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/product.do?sku=435848

Now its got excellent specs etc but i cant use them
why

well because its got vista on it -- i knew it when i bought it but i didnt think vista would be so bad

I really hate it -- i cant get to grips with it and the layout is messing me about never mind about it peeing me off

So i heard you can downgrade from vista to xp -- my laptop didnt come with any restore disc or anything which seems unbelievable, as what do i do when it messes up?? --- anyways

How can i downgrade it easy and free

Cant get my computer games to run from vista and the factor of having a laptop almost becomes redundant

HELP !!!!!!

Daniel
p.s I love lamp

As far as I know you'll have to buy Windows XP and install it.
There may be other ways but that is the only solution I know of...and it's not cheap (unless you know of someone who already has the disc?)

Just been reading up and it seems a lot of people that downgraded their lap tops encountered hardware incompatibilty issues.
Good luck with this. I'm relieved the lap top I just ordered my Sister came with xp.

Give it some time. I thought it was ***** when I first got it but now I wouldnt go back to xp.

If it came with home premium i dont think you can downgrade for free - youll have to use a copy you already have or frok out for a new copy.

or allegedly, look for a torrent file of XP Pro, wipe your HD and reinstall the torrent XP? :whistling:

and allegedly install all sorts of nasties that have been placed into it so they that be mighty (Bill Gates and his homies) would allegedly like us to believe! But I dont allegedly believe that as I have allegedly been told its all allegedly nonsense.

Ive had my dell vostro 1500 from the £316 deal about 3 weeks which came with home basic, wiped that as I was told that XP Pro would speed it up but it seemed slower now its got Vista ultimate and it seems faster than when it had home basic on it which in all fairness felt buggy and kind of half finished.

Ive got vista ultimate now on three machines and the only reason its not on my fourth is because its a HTPC and there are no vista drivers for the dual tuner in it, but if I drop on another Vista ready tuner at the right price I will upgrade to vista.

I dont have a problem whatsoever with Vista I bought a copy of it within its first two weeks of release over here as I was fed up of the WGA notification that occured due to some naughty person :whistling: installing a dodgy copy of XP on my PC and dont regret it to this day!

What tuner do you have in it? My HTPC has a Hauppage twin tuner running on Ultimate and thats been fine! Mind you, Im thinking about chopping that over and replacing it with a HD sat card. (Only one PCI slot on the damn motherboard!)

Unfortunately you cant do it easily or free, you need to buy an XP disk and you need to install it and as already hinted you may have issue finding drivers as another way the companies are collaborating to ensure everyone goes the Vista route is release new hardware with no XP support. regardles of the fact that 80% of the market still use XP (that figure is a guess btw)

Black is a massive dvd download, but on the plus size contains 99% of the apps you are likely to ever need!

Its a hauppage when I tried installing it under Vista it wouldnt even detect it! Thinking of going for a sat card too for it though whats the best price you seen on sat cards Guv?

This is the laptop im looking at getting, mine is in repair a Fujitsu Siemens one, and they cant fix it so waiting on head office at comet to confirm i can have a new one, which this is the one im going to choose, i have and currently am typing on another Fujitsu Siemens, and i love their laptops so this one is going to make way to being sold if i get a new one as its better specs then what i have and this is only few weeks old!!! As i couldnt make do without a laptop as well when my computer keeps playing me up from time to time.
I thought good price for the spec as well.

As for downgrading to XP you will more than likely need to buy Windows XP and downgrade it yourself, but Vista is cool, i wasnt sure at first but i like it now

Vista isn't all that bad when you get used to it. I love the new start menu, it's sooooo quick!! :)
