DP needs help with xbox 360 gamertag....

Ok, here's the lowdown...DP, his bro & BIL play on xbox live together, theyre trying to play rainbow 6 vegas 2.
Now, theyve all played together successfully in the past week or so on this game BUT tonight, if DP hosts a game, he cannot invite BIL in, if BIL hosts a game, he cannot invite DP in BUT if bro hosts a game he CAN invite both of them in successfully BUT DP & BIL cannot hear each other (bro can hear both of them).
It appears to me that there's some kind of 'ignore gamertag' thing on or something?!
Does anyone know of any reasons why this has happended?....
Thank you (from a girlfriend that doesnt really care! lol)

it's probably down to bandwidth. It won't let you host a game if you haven't got enough bandwidth to do so

But they can each host a game & invite 'bro' in & it works...just cant invite each other in!

you can choose to prefer and avoid players, they could have avoided each other

if he presses the guide button on his controller, then either goes on "friends" or "recent players" and presses on his name there is an option for "submit player review" that should let him know

TY, he says he will have a look 2moro when he goes on (as he has come off now anyway!) & get BIL to check his end too.

It's probably your NATs. I suspect bro has an open NAT, and DP and BIL have either moderate or strict NATs. If you get everyone to do a network test (it's in the dashboard on the far right hand blade somewhere), it should confirm this. Also, I think you'll find that BIL and DP won't be able to private chat with each other, but they will be able to with bro.

Someone with an open NAT can connect to open, moderate and strict NATs
Someone with a moderate NAT can connect to open and moderate NATs
Someone with a strict NAT can only connect to open NATs

So my guess is that either DP or BIL has a moderate NAT, and the other has a strict NAT. Or maybe they both have strict NATs. The solution would be to set up port forwarding to either change the moderate NAT to open, or the strict to moderate (or open, preferably).

The prefer and avoid players only affects matchmaking (AFAIK), but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't go as far as stopping someone joining a game.

If you can get everyone to do connection tests, and post the results. If it confirms what I thought then I should be able to help sort it out if you post details of their connections (ie what router etc).

TY! DP checked the prefer/avoid player thing earlier but it was on prefer.
He will go on later & check the network thingy (lol) & get the others to do the same & ill let you know what it says!
Thanx!
