Todays big newsstory reveals that we are, finally, going to see the (re)release of classic Dreamcast Titles in downloadable format through both Microsoft's "XBox Live Arcade" and Sony's "Playstation Network" services.

The first 2 games to have been announced are Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure, with more inbound according to all sources.

(Fingers crossed for the Shemnue series)

Do you know how much they are charging?

Great news, was wondering if Crazy Taxi would ever come to XLA, loved that game. Shenmue would also be a great addition.

No, the pricing has yet to be revealed. I'd expect it to around the same pricepoint as the PSX/XBox games are as downloads.

Technically we've already had a few Dreamcast classics - Rez, Marvel Vs Capcom 2, Ikaruga. But Crazy Taxi will be most gratefully received!

Sorry, Josh, I dropped a comment in my previous "Misc" thread without seeing you'd already started a dedicated thread on the same subject:

I'll update my comment to point back here instead.

Knowing PSN, too much. Mind you, as Sony seem to have broken PSN it doesn't really matter.

Awesome. Sonic Adventures (first one) is the only good sonic game since the mega drive ones. Can't wait.

:)

I've never liked SEGA published/developed titles with one exception ("The Club"), & have not had the opportunity to try the Dreamcast's back catalogue.

"Crazy Taxi" I played on arcade machines & didn't think the transfer (to the PS2, at least) captured the same experience.

I hear a lot about "Shemnue", especially in comparisons to the "Yakuza" series.

Do you have any more recommendations (without mentioning talking/walking blue hodgehegs with a hair style resembling a bog brush)?

Well there is Sonic Adventure for starters...

...oh and "Typing of the Dead", yes you've guessed it, that's the Arcade classic "House of the Dead" but with a keyboard.

...But more seriously, all the best Dreams games have been ported already, or appeared on thee consoles. So games like "Skies of Arcadia" came out on the Gamecube, am.I right in thinking that Shemnue or its sequel appeared on XBox or am.I imagining that?
