We should have had a bed delivered today and last night disposed of our old one. We should have got a call by 10am to let us know when our new bed would be delivered but 10am came and went. At 11am I called them only to be told that because of the "extreme weather conditions" the delivery had been cancelled and was rescheduled for next Saturday as they apparently can't deliver it any sooner!

I am really annoyed because a) there is about 3 or 4cm of snow on the ground, the roads are absolutely fine around here so the "extreme weather" excuse is rubbish and b) they didn't even bother to tell us, we had to call them!

We now have no bed for a week and they don't care at all. Looks like we are sleeping on a mattress on the floor.....

i suppose it depends where to beds are kept, if this is a distance away from you the weather conditions may be completely different there, 10 mins down the road from me everything is ok, but where i live the roads are terrible, we even had a AA recovery truck stuck here earlier.

I am not sure where they are but I am still furious they didn't have the decency to call and let us know! When I spoke to them and explained that we now have no bed they really didn't care and said there was nothing they could do about it and got really sarcastic saying we could sleep on the sofa!

Cancel it but you still have to find another!
have a look in your local independent stores.

Obviously the weather is an issue, but it's disgraceful that they didn't phone you - and prior to today! They must have been aware that their delivery schedule was compromised a couple of days ago.
#6
Yh i know it must be very annoying, they should have let you know.....

I sympathise, but in this situation I would never have thrown out the old one until they delivered-there are many reasons, not just weather, that a "guaranteed" delivery can go wrong, especially with furniture suppliers.

The dfs of the bed world are dreams.
poor service and quality also the prices are way over the top on some beds.

We had to make the room. The old bed took ages to dismantled and we simply would not have had the time to do it this morning if the bed had been delivered early. Also, seeing as we had not heard from Dreams last night, we saw no problem with it because we thought they would have the decency to call us to let us know if there were any problems.

They would have known yesterday that they wouldn't be delivering the bed but didn't tell us.

point taken-I wasnt having a pop btw-they should have let you know-I had the same situation recently, luckily mine came but I left the old bed til they delivered, put the new one in the lounge and then went upstairs and "dismantled" the old one with a sledgehammer-lol-was good fun!

Yes dreams are rubbish, I always wake up just as they're getting good.

I know you weren't, sorry if it came across a bit rude, I am just rather fed up at the moment!

I have sent Dreams an email complaining but I don't expect anything to be done. I just hope this "extreme weather" isn't about next weekend!

I have only been in Dreams once and I'm so glad I did not bother buying from them.
Sales person forever following you and then when I did find a bed, they wanted to charge me £25 to deliver it and now I see they want £35 for delivery!
In the end I bought from Argos, £4.95 (now £5.80) delivery and not had one problem. Oh and the bed is so comfy!

IMHO I would ring and either get them to refund the cost of delivery (and maybe a bit more after the sofa comment) or get a refund and go elsewhere. Perhaps to a place that really has a sale!

Where's the stress I had the same issue with a new mattress supposed to be delivered on Weds, direct from slumberland via sainsburys online, they did try and got stuck somwhere hence the delay incalling, and I am still waiting on a phonecall to rearrange delivery, not expecting it anytime soon.

Also don't forget although cars may be ok at a push on some roads, lorries and big vans may struggle, calm down, crap happens.

I am "stressed" because they didn't bother to call. It would not have been so bad if they had just called to let us know but I had to call them - they probably wouldn't have even bothered to let us know if I had not called. Also they had not made any attempt to deliver today, they cancelled the delivery yesterday.

Plus the whole sarcastic "sleep on your sofa" comment really annoyed me.

i suppose you still have a matress to sleep on so its not as if you have nothing :) two delivery truck came onto my road today and both took around 5 hours to get back up the hill to get off, maybe they were attempting to deliver and realsied they couldn't hence no phone call.....

hopefully you shall resolve your bed issue soon, have you got a new slot yet?! Snow is really bad in some places still and so is the ice, so maybe next week will be your best bet.

Yea, it could be worse. Delivery has been rearranged for next weekend.

I spoke to Dreams a second time and they admitted that the delivery was cancelled yesterday so they didn't attempt to delivery today.

We visited our local Dreams last week. We eventually narrowed down the choices to a Sleepeezee Cairo mattress which is (according to their sales bumpf) 2000 pocket sprung, extra firm (orthopaedic) with wool and cashmere for £950. The sales person immediately offered a discount to £850, then waffled on about their £40 ten year guarantee and £35 delivery charge, taking the price back up to near its previous level.

After getting home I did some Googling and found that they use their buying power to get manufacturers to rebrand existing products, then elevate the prices safe in the knowledge that you won't find it any cheaper elsewhere, simply because it doesn't exist as that anywhere else.

The mattress we were looking at is apparently identical to the Sleepeezee Ultimate Backcare 2000, which is specified as 'orthopaedic', 2000 pocket sprung, wool and cashmere padding, and with (here comes the tenuous link) 'Cairo' fabric. I found it online with free delivery and Quidco making it £370 all-in, meaning a saving of some £580 over the initial ticket price.

Do your research folks, it's easy to get stung.
