I don't use Dreamweaver, but I think I know what you mean. In Microsoft FrontPage I add the pic and then drag it smaller until it fits the cell / frame / table I am using.

i sorta knew about FP, but i try to steer clear of that now, and just DW

In my version of dreamweaver, the properties tab at the bottom of the screen has a bg text box with a folder beside it, this folder lets you browse to the picture you want as a background. 2 points here; make sure you upload the picture to your images folder and secondly you'll need to make your image a lot fainter so it doesn't dominate the cell.

that worked mate, expect, rather than 1 image, it repeats itself through X & Y, meaning I have like 5 across by 7 down! I only need the one image per page.

edit: my pages are all different lengths, how will this effect the image (ie will it cut half of it off)

hey disco, the background image will repeat if it is smaller than the size of the table you are putting it in, you may need to make the image bigger

edit: you may need to use different images for different pages to prevent them repeating if they are differrent lengths, or try making the length of your page the same

i tried that, re: image length, but it looked stupid when it was different sizes. i'll have to try to make the pages the same, cheers.

One solution is to have it "floating" do a google on background images I can't remember but there's a way to get the image to keep up with the scroll bar, the one image follows you down the page, sorry I can't help more.
