Anyone ever done it? May need to do so to install a car iPod adapter for my Clio (want to keep the stock headunit).

Anyone know what those plastic lug hole surrounds are called? The things you stick in a drilled hole to make it look neater...

I need to drill a 15mm hole, thats just a bit massive aint it! :-S

Where you going to drill the hole? Why you going to drill it as in where to get to where?

the lug hole covers are called grommets

Grommets! Thanks for that.

The hole is going to go somewhere near or around the headunit..

Basically I'm gonna get one of those 'Connect 2' units that connects to the headunit and sits in the dash. Then gonna run a cable which comes from the 'Connect 2' unit to the iPod which I'll put in a holder that clips to the fan grills.

I had a clio once. Dreamed of drilling it into little bits.

You going to drill hole to get behind the head unit? Sorry just bit confused as if you need to get behind the head unit you can always bring out the wire from side of the car stereo?

Interesting.. Wonder if there's a gap for that.. As far as I can remember there isn't though..

Make it a bit neater & drill through the ashtray. You can then make a nice little ipod holder in the ashtray to put your ipod on, and then close the ashtray when not in use to keep it out of sight ;-)

Think of the damage this will do for any re-sale value

Good point. May go to the car now and take a couple pics and ask for your suggestions!

Basically bring it behind the dash and into the glove box!! Like that the wire will be hidden and easy to take out as no drilling is involved and cash safely keep ut i-Pod in your glove box!! It both looks neat and more security as wires not visible!!!

Here are some useful links of the SEAT site - you can try doing this with yours :)

Reckon I can just drop a wire down from inside the dash and it'll make its way down there?

Yea but have the clip on the air vents when your using it? The ashtray thing that Chris has suggested is good, does not have to be complicated as much but like that as work behind the dash!

Suppose I could do.. Wouldn't be able to close the glove box when it's out though.

I'm pretty handy with a dremel, actually quite up for modding a dock into my car :-)

The glove box will close as its only a wire!! If you can make a dock would be good! I suggest you ring up a local scrap yard and see if you can get one as you dont want to mess it up and also when you sell the car may want to replace the original one?
