Depends on loads of factors. Surely.

takes around 24hrs for alcohol to leave your bodys system, still an offence to drive the next morning after drinking the night before
#3
The average human metabolism of alcohol is roughly 1 unit per hour - as adam says, it depends on loads of factors - not discounting the fact you'd be on your **** after 10 units.

Just get a taxi you can afford it

Yeah but ATM I'm in the north with my whip.

By 1.30pm tomorrow I need to be at football (which is in the south). I can't really leave my whip at my girlfriend's house as I might not be up there again for a week or so and I need my car for daily activities.

Definitely not the next day, seriously, if you're planning that tonight then you shouldn't drive at all until Sunday

10 units = 5 beers = not very much.

Are you a lightweight or something?

So I have a few options:

A) Don't drink
B) Don't drink very much
C) Drink a moderate amount and hope I'm not over the limit in the morning
D) Drink a lot and drive home in the morning away - hope that I don't get caught.
E) Drink a lot and don't drive and not be able to get to football.

What should I do?

I'm edging towards C at the moment.

Watched something on telly the other week which said 1 unit takes 1 hour to process.
#17
B if you're driving tomorrow

jFK - useful thread mate.

My advice, is just risk it. You'll probably not get caught, and if you drive slow along the back roads, no ones likely to get hurt anyway.
#23
It's about a 6 hour drive to where you live (I am sure you know that, you presumably drove up) which means you have to leave at 7:30 assuming you can drive straight there and not home first to get your kit.

If you drink much, you will be drink driving.

The thing is 'cos I have a flashy car and I'm young the police tend to pull me over a lot to check insurance and check that it's not stolen LOL.

Also the majority of driving will be on the motorway.

But I might just risk it and stick to the speed limit (which I don't usually do).

I play semi-pro, I don't have to go home and get my kit. I have my 3 paris of boots and shin pads in the car. The club takes care of everything else. They even wash my Under Armour shirt and everything.

just a tip, go just over the speed limit. the coppers look for people going just under the speed limit at certain times (around christmas etc, sunday mornings), because people who have been drinking tend to spend too much time making sure they are just under the limit. Its not natural... just act normally and its harder to spot.

On average, it takes about one hour for your body to break down one unit of alcohol. However, this can vary, depending on:
your weight,
whether you’re male or female,
your age,
how quickly or slowly your body turns food into energy (your metabolism),
your stress levels,
how much food you have eaten,
the type and strength of the alcohol, and
whether you’re taking medication and, if so, what type.
It can also take longer if your liver isn’t working normally.
How much is one unit?

One unit of alcohol is roughly equivalent to:
half a pint of beer, or
a 25ml (pub) measure of spirit.
A small (125ml) glass of wine is equivalent to about 1.5 units. A 275ml bottle of alcopop is about 1.4 units. A 5% alcohol-strength pint of beer is 2.8 units.
Adding up your units

If you drink a large (250ml) glass of wine, your body takes about three hours to break down the alcohol.
If you drink one pint of beer, your body takes about two hours to break it down. One pint of strong lager is equivalent to three units, so this will take longer.
If you have a few drinks during a night out, it can take many hours for the alcohol to leave your body. The alcohol could still be in your blood during the next day.
After drinking alcohol

It's very important to remember how long it takes your body to break down alcohol, e.g. before you drive or operate machinery or equipment.
Even if you feel fine the day after drinking, you could still be over the limit. The legal limit in the UK is 80mg of alcohol for every 100ml of blood in your body.
If you get drunk, you should avoid alcohol for 48 hours, to give your body time to recover.

Honestly, the guy isn't going drinking tonight, isn't at his gf's 4.2million pound house, doesn't have an aston (he doesn't actually drive yet) and doesn't have semi-pro football tomorrow. Worst case his daddy is up with him in the north and he is driving home tomorrow.
