Lokking for an external dvd drive, not fussy about its speeds and capabilities too much. As long as it can read dvd disks. Forgot to mention, it must connect via USB. - mudddy Read More

do you know that you can use an xbox360 hddvd drive as an external drive?!

they are £20 at gamestation if you can find one. if not the cex do them online (3 left!) for £20 with 1 year garuntee.

not only that its region free for dvds (whilst on your pc) & you can then watch hddvds on your pc also! (£1.99 in gamestation!)

Picked up a 360 HD DVD from Gamestation this morning.
But non of my pcs will recognise it, one is running XP the other Windows 7.
Any advice, do I require a driver?

I think the driver is there in Vista, for the other two its needed to be installed.

Have a look here:

Thanks Quicklite, but the link appears to discuss drivers to play hd-disks, i'm only interested using standard DVD disks. Any way I installed the patch, but its had no effect, drive still won't show up in My Computer.
