ive been learning to drive for a while now and im just about ready for my test, but my instructor is going on holiday on tuesday and i wont be having another lesson for over 3 weeks! i need to be passed and have a car by beginning of october. should i go with another instructor for 3 weeks? will it do me good to drive another car or will it set me back? anyone else had this problem before?

Depends on your confidence on driving tbh (but setting a 1st time pass obvjective means ur kinda confident or brave, or silly lol). Nah, tbh if your a safe driver you can pass in any instructor car. But if you do choose diff instructor try get the same model car, so u'll have no excuses.. lol

I did 2 weeks semi intensive training, no driving for 2-3 months, after that 3-4 hrs of driving few days before my test, passed with 4 minors 1st time.. :)

Should not be too bad if your confident in your driving, how many hours have you done?
I needed 30

haha erm ive had 66 hours! instructor thinks its ok though cos ive no other practice ever, my instructors car is the only car i have ever driven. well thats my excuse anyway

Dont want to change cars worst thing you could do - just wait the 3 weeks - i find i drive best having not driven for a while so your test will go better

I would disagree. if you leave it for three weeks, you'll lose confidence because of the lack of practice.

Get someone else in. Cars aren't that different anymore.

My instructor changed cars on me 2 weeks before my test and I freaked at the thought. I couldn't postpone though cos I had a car waiting for me and if I didn't pass first time I'd have had to give up work due to timeframe.

I passed :-D

I agree with srw_topbloke, if you don't drive for 3 weeks you could lose confidence. Good luck with your test :)

another thing is if i do go with someone else for 3 weeks i will feel like im betraying my instructor

Its business at the end of the day. I think he's had a reasonable amount of money from you (66 hours)

I'm sure he wont mind

awww it's not like you're cheating :) and it's only a few weeks. My instructor was actually a trainee and I was her first pupil to go to test (when we got back to mine she asked to ring her Mum she was so proud of 100% pass record heehee).

My Dad used to let me take out his rover too (not actually something I'd advise - only time I'd ever gotten away with swearing at the top of my lungs LMAO).
