Driving test on 1st of Feb, First Driving lesson yesterday! *PASSSEEEDDDDDDDD*

So my driving test is on the first of Feb, I got around 3 weeks of practice and my first lesson was yesterday :O

But it's not so bad because I hold a the full motorcycle license which I gained in December 2009.

Anyway, I'm set to do at least around 4 to 6 hours of lessons per week with my instructor but I'm not sure if that's enough time to learn everything and be ready for the exam :(.

Oh, also - it's not my first time ever driving a car, so I got some experience under my belt.. I hope I can do it!

eek :(

you'll be fine - i did an intensive course in 3 weeks without driving a car / having extra lessons .
let us know how you get on

Ohhh good luck! It doesnt seem like much time to me but then i was a complete novice! It took me 10 months to learn!! loll Keep us updated"

average takes 30-40 hours to learn. you already know the roads so you should technically need less than that. All depends on if you get a good instructor or not...some purposely waste your time so they can squeeze more hours out of you

My instructor is amazing. He was so nice and gave me 2.5 hours yesterday and only charged me for 1.5 hours. My wifes' driving instructor often drops her back off when there is still 10-15 minutes of the lesson left :\

He seems like an honest decent guy. I just really hope I can do it!! :(

general rule is about 1 lesson per year of age

surprised you managed to get an instructor with a test so close. Although I guess they can refuse to let you use their car / instructor record if not ready by 1st feb

it's possible. but if you do fail, don't think anything of it. how your test goes is a lottery anyway.

I have been learning to drive for about 10 months now I've had about 20 hours but I keep stopping and starting due to my uni course x
#8
Good luck mate and as said above at least with having your motorcycle license you will have knowledge of the roads.
Took me 23 lessons to pass my test as kept putting my lessons off for years as I have always worked close to home so wasn't a big deal but start of last year I got it out the way and made up I did as just so handy having a car and got one through work so saves me some money as well

Are you sure it's not because you're letting the clutch out too quickly? :p
#10
Hold on - you booked your test before you had any lessons ?? Why.....surely your instructor will say when you ready
#11
if you have a good instructor, its easily doable

when you can go a long period of time, and come back to the car and drive fine then you know you're ready. When I failed first time, I booked my test for as soon as possible (2.5months away). I didnt drive in between. My test was on a tuesday, I had an hour on the friday before, two hours on the monday and passed. Admittedly I'd lost my ability to parallel park but fortunately that didn't come up in the test... Got it done about a week before uni which was handy - get it out the way...

i booked my test 1 week before the date. if your comfortable on the road you wont need many lessons.

i had 1 hour a day for 5 days before the test and managed to pass first time. i think i was lucky the roads were clear on the day, but with 3 weeks to go thats plenty of time.

thanks for all the positive comments people, I really hope I can do it within these 20 days.

I've got a 2 hours lesson tomorrow morning, I'll book myself in for at 4 hours a week starting from tomorrow!

Thanks guys, I'll update you all once I passed/failed :\

if you do stall, just secure the car properly

Also just keep looking in the mirrors

thanks denandyas.

Lessons have been good, I've had a couple of off lessons but on the positive, I've learnt well from them and my instructor is confident that I can pass!

Wish me luck guys, 2 hours to go :'(

It took me 16 lessons in 4 months to pass. First time but still man the most nerve wrecking experience of your life. I only passed two weeks ago. As some one else said earlier, if you fail dont think much of it, its also about luck aswell and the examier you get, I had a nice guy who was very carm. Someone else who took the test when I did mine was crying by the time she finished poor girl failed with 1 major.

Best of luck and hope you pass, do not get nervous. Treat it like a normal lesson.
