As above,

Has anyone driven to a European country? How long will this take roughly? Also would anyone know how much it would cost in petrol probably impossible to say right.

I drove to Gelshenkirken for the World Cup in 2006, from Calais to there took me 4 hours. I would double that if your going to Berlin. We also drove from Berlin to Frankfurt and that was a 10hr round trip...Germany is huge. Fill up in Dover and it wont cost you as much in fuel.

Remember that different countries have different legal requirements for road users.

Most German motorways don't have a speed limit.

I love driving to Germany, We go at least twice a year.

We travel to Europa Park which is a Massive Themepark that blows Alton towers out of the water. Its down towards the France/Germany/Swiss border and takes about 6 hours from Calais.
Watch out for Toll roads, I don't think Germany have any but the french do.

Yeah i have just be prepared to pull over when they come up behind you at 160+mph while you're doing 115mph. And don't take any nazi stuff you'll get locked away. Don't fill up in belgium most are self service and you need a belgium bank card to use them. Might work with a credit card but then you'll get charged all sorts in fees.

Get the train ... cheaper and more fun. We got an unlimited train pass when we went to the World Cup in 06 and it was far better value. Plus meant we could all have a drink. Ferry from Harwich to Hook was cheap ... train to the Dam and then on to Germany.

Go to Cologne ... nice place.
