Dropped my iPhone down the toilet!

Help please :) I have dropped my iPhone 4 down the toilet this morning for about 3 seconds, got it out and sucked the water out (it was clean i swear!!) then i have put it in a bowl of rice beside the radiator, i know your not supposed to try to switch it on and its best if its switched off but the button at the side to put the phone on loud/silent is still working and vibrates, so i think the phone must be still on but the screen has nothing on it. Does anyone know how to switch the phone of without having to see the screen? and do u think there is any hope for my poor phone!

Remove the battery and put it in rice, the longer it's on the more it breaks.

CAn you remove the battery of an iphone 4 without taken the case apart?

Google it, there are loads of stories out there. The battery can;t be taken out but just leave it in a air-tight rice-filled container for 4 or 5 days will be 'reet.

I know the iphone batteries can be removed but not like you can with other phones. Then again OP hasn't got much to lose by taking the shell apart to do it as at the moment their phone could be ^&^*& anyway. Rice trick may work, just don't try to stir fry it after, domestos and pee probably don't taste nice

Now that is commitment, I'd have to think twice about giving my niece or nephew mouth to mouth if they ever fell into a toilet never mind a phone.

As far as I know, iPhones are not toilet proof. I think you may have killed it. Was it your own toilet water that you drank, or someones else's? The reason I ask, is that you seem very confident that the water was clean. My only advice to you, would be, never drink toilet water, its not good for you. Hope this helps ;)

Haha some funny posts here, well it was as clean as toilet water can ever be and i didnt swallow it so i think ill be ok! dont have a tiny screwdriver or anything to take the phone apart so dont think i will be able to do that and the battery was full so it will be hours untill the battery dies. I can here it vibrating from time to time ... i think its screwed!

Contact all the people who call you regularly and tell them to ring you via home phone or something for a while but not on the mobile. Mind you you will probably still be getting emails and texts so ????

Turn it off, stick it in rice and leave it for a few days. When you try to use it again, if it doesn't work it's not the end of the world - you can take it into an Apple Store and get it swapped out. I *think* it's about £130 - not cheap, but much cheaper than buying a new iPhone 4!

once a phone has had a soaking, I am afraid it's a gonner.

I dropped my phone down the toilet years ago and it stopped working even after I had left it in the airing cupboard to dry it out.

Back pockets are dangerous places for ladies to put their mobiles
