My laptop keeps coming up with this message. asks me if i want to sent a report and then usually refuses to close something or another. Leaving it on some days means by the time i get home there are several of this messages usually resulting in a power off and everything else is locked up. Any ideas please

LOL you can't even say debugging in the title without the **** coming up, I would google for SYSTEM MECHANIC, down load the free trial copy and let it sort out your problems, it does not cause you to lose any of your work :whistling:

MORE INFORMATION
WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
Back to the top

To disable Dr. Watson
1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit.exe in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. Locate and click the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug
NOTE: Steps three and four are optional, but they necessary if you want to restore the default use of Dr. Watson.
3. Click the AeDebug key, and then click Export Registry File on the Registry menu.
4. Enter a name and location for the saved registry file, and then click Save.
5. Delete the AeDebug key.
Registry entries for de****** programs are located in the AeDebug key in Windows. The Dr. Watson program is installed by default in Windows, and is configured to run when an application error occurs (with a data value of 1 for the Auto value). The default values are:
Value Name = Auto
Type = String (REG_SZ)
Data Value = 1 or 0. (Default is 1)

Value Name = De******
Type = String (REG_SZ)
Data Value = drwtsn32 -p %ld -e %ld -g

NOTE: This data value (drwtsn32 -p %ld -e %ld -g) is specific to Dr. Watson. Alternative de******s will have their own values and parameters.

It winds me up big time!!! LOL

The message box did not lock the pc.

I used to get it when I was opening divx files. It would not click away, so I used to move th message box to the edge of the screen so I could not see it. In the end I thought I'd disabled the message box as I knew no harm was being done to my pc.
#7
youve lost me now!
ive usually got msn, messenger, outlook express and a couple of internet explorer windows open
#8
Or you could try this, to see if it stops the error reporting message boxes...

START - CONTROL PANEL - SYSTEM - ADVANCED - ERROR REPORTING - DISABLE ERROR REPORTING.
#9
which is better???

Was this related to divx or xvid? I fixed many a problem like this with PCs and it was the xvid codec that was knackered - giving xvid.ax error in the details. Replacing with a different version of the xvid codec worked wonders.

eh???????????
