I've just stood on my children's DS lite and it lost.

It still works but the right hand hinge is totalled and part of the lower case has cracked off, leaving the top part held only by the left hand hinge and the wire which I pressume is in there.

Are they fixable / worth fixing and fixable by an oaf who goes around standing on them in the first place?!

Thanks

Definitely fixable, just a bit fiddly when you have them apart.

Thanks, just seen them on there but reviews talk about how hard it is to do (and I am pretty useless - evidently!)

Pretty easy to repair if you have a little patience, new cases can be bought from Dealextreme.
Plenty of instructions on utube. (Done 6 to date)

I think this may become my winter project ( you know the type that last until June and then get abandonned.)

I've ordered the case and tri screwdriver - anything else required apart from valium.

The above link is for a guide to DS case replacement. The tricky parts are connecting ribbon strips for top screen and fitting on/off and volume sliders as they are very easily broken.

They are very difficult to fix.

Now thinking a second hand one from fleaBay might have been cheaper in the long run!

I did the old ds in about 20 mins following a guide on youtube which was in spanish. Not to difficult. Got my case and new screens from dealextreme

This guy will fit a new DS case for £35, I've used him before. He's actually based in Bolton. He will even buy the knackered DS off you if you want.

ask around, there is a guy at our local market who repairs ds's, broken case is around £20. Sells and unlocks mobile phones too so thats the kind of place your looking for. They are not easy if your a bit clumsy as very fiddly and you need the patience of a saint.
