But found an old DS lite that the top screen stopped working. We've recently bought a new replacement, but was just wondering if there is a website that trades in broken DS lites for cash like mazuma

I'm not too keen on ebay, so many people rip you off on there, I'd probably get £90, send the ds then find the money is from somewhere in nigeria lol

So true...shame there are no decent alt auction sites.

There are definitely some guys on here that would like the challenge of fixing a broken on like yummymummy said you can buy replacement screens so it could prob be fixed. If I was you I would make a f/s thread and see if there is any interest

I like the idea of trying to fix it, cos I could sell it for a decent working model or as a trade in and be worth more then.

Is there anyone that could give me instructions how to fix it?

STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fixing a top screen on a DS Lite is NOT a beginers task, all you will end up doing is making a mess of it and it being worth less than it is now.
Unless of course you happen to be VERY good at small electronics and have the patients of a saint.

This place buys broken DS Lites http://www.dscity.co.uk/rec.html or he can repair it. I think he charges £30 including the return postage for a top screen. He'll replace the whole case for £35.
There is a step by step instruction sheet at www.gbatemp.net on dismantling the DS Lite, by the way you'll need a special tri-wing screwdriver (available from deal extreme)

GBATemp site is down but I do have the full procedure as a word document. If you need it then send me a pm and we'll exchange e-mail addresses and I'll send it to you.
The real fiddly parts are on assembly, assembling the springs for the L and R buttons is tricky, and be careful not to break the volume and power switch when finally clipping the case back together. The sliders have to be in the correct position or you snap the lugs off the switches. Everything else is just fiddly, a delicate touch, good light and a clean desktop will see you right.

Funny you mention that, the only DS Lite I have taken apart is missing a volume slider, now I wonder how that could have happened :p

Lol, I just mentioned it to my wife, and said I can fix it for £10 ish. But said I have to be very dainty. She raised an eyebrow looked over her brow at me and said 'best you get someone else to do it then!'

Not sure why I got married

Still glad I left her, made us better friends
