I was shopping today in the Birmingham junction 9 curry's superstore, i asked the assistant if the returns policy was still the same. I was shocked to discover him him say that they now charge 10% re-stocking fee for returned goods, something to do with not being able to resell them. I just thought i would let people know about this silly policy of theirs.

I can not wait until BESTBUY opens their first shop here!! can not come soon enough

There is no right to return something as unwanted if you buy it in store (regardless of what most people think).

DSGi don't sell refurbed stock in store, however they do sell pre-owned stock. If it's unwanted and returned sealed it goes straight on the shelf, if it's returned as unwanted and unsealed it goes back on the shelf at full price with a pre-owned sticker on it (although very few people buy pre-owned stock at full price - but it's unfair to expect the store to discount it at the same time).

EDIT - While I can understand why they do this, I dont think they have.

I think the 10% is only for opened items, same as Comet ?

They can charge a restocking fee, but if you have bought via the internet or onthe phone for home delivery then you have 7 days to cancel your order and they cant charge a restocking fee.

It can't be restocked if it's faulty, so no, they can't...
