Dublin Stag Doo - Advice Needed

I'm organising a Stag Doo to Dublin in October and was looking for advice on the best pubs to go to. I have heard the Temple Bar area is overpriced and was looking for alternatives.

Also, I 'm looking for advice on whether or not it would be wise to wear kilts i.e. will we be be turned away from places and/or attract trouble.

Many Thanks

Take plenty of money, it's about £5 a pint in Dublin due to the poor performance for Euro!

Been to Dublin many times, yes Temple Bar area is very expensive... Last October it was £6-£6.50 a pint for lager, Guiness or Kilkenny (a pint and half of draught cider cost £10.50) , i never went to a club but i heard it cost more in them. They can be very strict on the door at some places as well, i went in Nov 2008 (3 guys, late 30's) and got turned away from a couple of bars, no reason given other than not tonight lads. The thing with Dublin is the beer prices, other goods like shopping and even eating are reasonable if you shop around, again food in Temple Bar can be expensive. The further you go out of town the cheaper things come but why do you want to venture from the main area if on a stag doo. My advice would be to find somewhere else as Dublin is a rip off fror drinkers.

Yeah we're expecting that but was hoping that there were a few cheaper places off the beaten path.

Thanks, but the flights are booked so too late for that lol.

There are about 25 of us so getting in anywhere busy or in the centre will be an issue, would be far easier getting into quieter places that would be hopefully a bit cheaper. We are staying in apartments and plan to drink there before we go out so reduce the costs. Are the prices of alcohol in supermarkets/off licences equally high ?

Even if you have booked your flights and digs, it would still work out cheaper to lose your money and re book somewhere else :-D

As for supermarket booze, i couldn't tell you the cost. I don't go away to drink cans in my room :?
