Dublin - What to do on a 1 day trip?

I'm off to Dublin with a couple of mates next week for a 1 day trip from Luton arriving at 9am in the morning and returning at 9pm. (through ryanair's cheap flight deals)

We don't really want to spend much, so for all those who have experienced Dublin, could you please provide some info on stuff do to?

I've found Dublin Pass website, it looks quite good but it's 35 Euros and only includes 1 way coach ride to the city centre. Is there a cheaper alternative?

We've also looked into going to the Guinness Factory or/and Jameson Distillery. We probably would only choose to go to one of those, so could you also recommend which one's the best?

Thanks in advance

Just outside the airport terminal (at the bus station) you can buy a return ticket to and from the city centre for 10 euros http://www.dublinbus.ie/en/Your-Journey1/Timetables/Airport-Services/
This bus takes you straight to O'Connell Street which is full of shops and restaurants.
We then got the city bus tour which takes you round all the main sites including the Guinness Factory.
We went to the Guinness Factory- it was good but very busy and would probably be more enjoyable if you like Guinness. It's mostly about the history of Guinness rather than the making of it.

For eating and drinking there's the Temple bar area- it's in walking distance from O'Connell St and also part of the bus route. It's full of bars and restaurants- I would recommend the ThunderRoad Cafe which is a bit like (and close to) the Hard Rock Cafe but much cheaper.

Have a nice time.
Bus to Cork.
Kilmainham Jail Museum.
i never went to the Jameson Distillery, but i can recommend the Guiness Factory - includes a free pint of Guiness once you've completed the tour
Thanks for the useful advise!
Deffo get the bus tour around the city, you can get off whenever you want and theres loads too see!!
Are there are any good attractions which are free (or less then 5 euros) that you can recommend?
Do you like arty stuff?

nah doesn't really interest me

pubs and craic is all thats to be had in ireland, why do you think so many irish are travellers:)
Cheers for all your help

Went yesterday and got the Dublin Bus tour. We went into Trinity college, Dublin castle, Guiness Storehouse (ridiculously expensive) and by the time we finished that we were too late for the Kilmainham Gaol tour and the Old Jameson Distrillery, so we walked around Temple bar for the last hour or so.

Really enjoyed the trip, very exhausting but will try and go back some time
