Now i wanna rip the main movie from a DVD so that I can write to a standard DVD - 4.7gb .... any ideas what I will need.

currently using DVD Decryptor, but not sure if thats all I need. As i explained before the intial DVD is over 4.7gb, but the main movie will fit onto a standard DVD

"DVD Shrink encounted an error and cannot continue. Failed to read file E:\ Data Error Cycial Redunancy Check"

Any ideas

yes one post up from yours

Either that disc is very very badly scratched or more likely it's just using latest protection or even 1 year to 2 year protection which dvdshrink cannot handle anymore.

dvd fab will do it with main movie option. Then untick audio tracks you do not want like 5.1 directors comms or any other English tracks you do not need or any other language tracks, subtitles etc. It will show a % of how the output files are affected by your choices so it will fit on DVD-5 you are aiming for no compression with the AUDIO choices .However LOL do not remove all of them unless you like silent movies.

the reason you get that error is because of the protection. if you had anydvd installed that error should go away unless your hard drive is broken.

I would not use anydvd personally or recommend it's use to anyone as It interferes with low level commands to optical drives. I am not suggesting you do not use it .. You make that choice I'm only saying I would not (cannot)recommend it in the same manner I forwarded a link etc for other software

It used to cost to buy dunno if they do free version now.

btw it's Cyclic

dcx_badass
It does if you use Anydvd, are you actually to stupid to read.

so how do I use BOTH together :whistling: it is 12:30 in the morning you know! lol

Do I just run it through shrink and will it default to anydvd?

Edit: Ive not received any links bud!
#24
still too big to fit on to a standard DVD.

I'll just have to pop over my Uncles tomorrow afternoon and use his Dual Writer..

shall I still ANYDVD to do a straight backup/copy/clone

PS: cant Rep you anymore DCX as you already received some earlier

Anydvd and dvd shrink will work. Install anydvd, then use dvd shrink, it will work.

but, if he has a DL DVD Writer, cant i do a straight copy or will i still need to use shrink?
#26
dcx_badass
You can do a straight copy, will cost more in disks in the long run though.

how come? I'm only needing to do 3 full copies so no bad.. i aint paying for discs

cheers DCX, many thanks ..
#27
i take it I can just use Nero (or another writing package) to copy it using a DL writer as ANYDVD will have checked it once I insert it into the drive - yar?
#28
dcx_badass
.Yes.

thought so.... again, ya a star. can get on with backup up little ones DVDS :whistling:
