DVD backup question...this may sound daft!!!

Hey all

I have used DVD shrink to backup a DVD, and I have now saved it on my WDTV media player.

The only problem is that it has saved in sections. How do I put these sections together?

I appreciate any help!

Cheers

you cant put them together. Its saved a proper DVD folder structure (e.g VIDEO_TS)

dvdshrink is meant for burning to another dvd or creating a dvd folder for playing from the HDD

If you go to
Edit - Preferences
then you will get a box like this:

Click on "output files" and uncheck the box where it says "Split VOB files into 1GB size chunks"

Hope this helps

Thanks for that. I can understand the rationale, but it is still saving the DVD as separate VOB files. Anyone know how to overcome this?

Thanks

I'm not sure I could ever get video_ts files to play on my wdtv, download makemkv and use that to rip your dvd

use xvid4psp to convert the DVD folder on HDD to mp4 / avi or whatever you prefer

Oh well, works for me.

When you open up the folder containing the ripped files all I use is the biggest VOB file (normally around 5GB) and drag and drop it into Media Player classic. Works all the time

My dads been using a wdtv media player for some time.
WDTV will play dvd's backups in their normal format of vobs no problem. He also found out by accident that when he saved them as a single iso file with dvd shrink wdtv would also play them.

Make MKV has done the job a treat.

Thanks all

I don't think WDTV knows what to do with a vob file, but if I remember right, vob's are just a type of mpg. Try changing the file extension on one of your vob files to mpg and see if it will play. No guarantees, but if it works it will save you re-encoded the files you've already made.

I used this method to play vob files in WMP years ago before I switched to Gom Player.

As mentioned output to *.ISO
