hiya i use a program but its not free, its a one off payment its called dvd fab and is really easy to use, it converts to all manner of things too, plus a neat trick is it just "backsup" the main movie so you dont have to sit through all the trailers and even the menu, its well wort the about £28 or so

That's what I use. If this gives the same message, just keep re-trying it and eventually it finds a way round it.

I've used DVDShrink for years without any problems . But for the new forms of encryption I've heard DVDFab is very good .I have it , but have not used it yet.

Try 'anydvd'... This will let you backup protected DVD's using whichever application you prefer...

DVDshrink is far slower than the pay ones, but if you can torrent things get clonedvd with the keygen its a fast great encoder, and use dvddecrypter to rip to HD then clonedvd to encode.

DVDFAB gives you 30 days unlimited backups of all encripted DVDs and lets you copy onto ipod and psp ect.
There is also a very good FORUM for help, it was so good at copying I bought the full copy after the 30 days.
Never had a disk not copy yet and you get free upgrades.

I meant DVD shrink when I post decryptor!!! Usually I just discard everything but the film itself.

The trouble with DVD Shrink and DVD-Decryptor is that they can't rip ARccOS protected discs which is frequently found on Sony Entertainment titles.

DVDFab HD Decrypter, which is free, will.

You can then shrink a double layer disc to fit onto a single with DVD Shrink, Nero Recode or other software

DVD Decrypter hasn't been updated for years and is about as much use these days as an ashtray on a motobike. Shrink is good and has it's uses but still requires a decrypter so that alone does not solve your problem.
Fab Decrypter is the one, it is by far the best freebie available. DVD43 4.1.1 will remove CSS encryption only but can be used in conjunction with Shrink.
Everything else you have to pay for.
