DVD picture disc, I need the still images!

Hi all,
I've been given a disc with pictures on as a DVD slide show, however the person would like the pictures individually, i.e taken from the disc to the PC. When she explores the disc its just got an Audio and Video TS folder. Is there anyway to extract the images?

Many thanks in advance! Rep to be had :)

Probably need to put it into a video editor - Sony Vegas, ADobe Premiere - whatever - and use the still frame snapshot facility. I think newer versions can read VOB.
If not convert the VOB to a high quality AVI then do as I said.

You could use "Print Screen" on your keyboard, but you'd have to pause the DVD whenever you do this.

An easy way is to use the free software Media Player Classic Home Cinema - play the DVD then press Alt+I every time you want to save the current image.

Sounds like somebody has recoded the original digital files to make a DVD.
The pictures you get from this reversing process would probably be much lower quality than the original scans/digital pictures used to make the slide show.
Does the person not have access to the original digital files?

Hi
Thanks for the replies.

Plum, I think you are right. They seem to be just in a slide show. The user does not have access to the files any more so was hoping to get them from the disc.

Ideally I'd just want to mount it somehow and get the stills.

The picture quality seems a little lower as as it slides you obviously get a slight grey until it eventually fades out.

Any other way?

Can the Sony software do this?

just install gadwin printscreen

hit Print screen button and draw a rectangle around the picture and save to disk, clipboard, print it, or email it.

Thats fine but I will lose picture quality. I was hoping the files may have been embedded within the .VOB file and then I could hopefully extract the individual pics, for example, a bit like exploring a .ISO file in WinRar

Sorry does not work like that. The DVD is not running slide show for you. It has actually recoded all the stills into DVD codec. It has taken as much quality out of the original as it needed to match the dvd settings.
You cannot drill down and find some pic files. The best you can do is work of the pics once you have extracted.

PLum is right. You wont get any better resolution than a screen capture as its probably only dvd resolution in the first place
