I think the dvd needs to been decrypted/Copyright unlocked, then compressed and then converted?

don't think there is a single (freeware) program for it, try looking here:

http://www.videohelp.com/guides?searchtext=dvd+ipod&tools=&madeby=&formatconversionselect=&howtoselect=%3B&orderby=Date&listall=1&hits=25&archive=0&search=Search+or+List+Guides

Lots of guides and help available!

I know you will have to use something like DVD Decrypter 1st to get rid of the copyright and get the files onto your PC.
Then will have to convert those files to the format the iPod uses......
Have a look at the link anyway

Hope this helps!

Not that I condone this sort of behaviour, but you'll save yourself a lot of hassle by 'acquiring' something like DVDFab Platinum...

At the moment I've been using DVD Dectrypter to get the VOBs decrypted and then Auto Guardian Knot to convert the video to a suitable format - it has many options. Both programs are freeware.

Another option I've been looking into is a conversion program called Super, seems to transcode between many formats although I've not managed to get a file size/quality balance I'm happy with.

I was told about the handbrake when I spoke to the apple people but get this caption ...

Handbrake could not be installed on system with .Net framework version smaller than 2.0

any ideas what that means ?

It sounds like you need to install the .net framework version 2.0 which you can get from the from Microsoft site.

cheers Jon

I think as I bought this putor from a company who have now gone under I have since found out the Xp pro I am using is iffy and so had a fe wupdate issues if you know what I mean I would gather that .net framework might not be allowed to be loaded to my system

cheers again Jon,

well i tried the sheer boredom thing amd hey presto I have managed the first track of Genesis the Video show, but cant figure how to get the rest, like you I cant be doing with poor quality and so far I am super impressed , voice and music in sync , now struggling with how the devil to get the other 20 odd tracks in ...

glad you got somewhere with it!

Maybe its to do with the files you select in DVD decrypter? Not too sure without trying it myself!
Good luck!

after much nashing of teeth and the like.. prior to giving my putor a damm good kicking at 01:30 this morning I finally figured what I was doing wrong.. or so I think, the programme will do 1 track at a time.. but the results are excellent no sync problems and good quality reproduction... now a few hours of selecting some top tune muisc dvd`s for me holly bobs:-D

Thanks all
