Now correct me if im wrong but some people are going on about a cable that has a dvi to a hdi cable (or something like that)

can you use this cable to get hd graphics on my tele (which is hd) or do you have to buy the ultra to get that?

If you haven't got a HD TV set, then there's no possible way of it displaying a HD picture. You could, however, buy the microsoft cable that allows you to connect the 360 to your PC monitor using a VGA Port (blue). Depending on the quality of your monitor, you should be able to get a HD signal that way.

He said his tv is HD im confused what he means though do you mean you want to get hd content from 360 to tv? you can get a component cable or a vga cable for the 360
#3
As said before you can get the VGA cable or the component cable. The VGA gives a sharper picture and upscales DVD compared to the component cable, with the component cable you get more vibrant colours, but with the VGA cable you cannot play original xbox games.

You could always get a converter to convert from VGA to HDMI.

Oh I didn't know that..........

there was a person on here that was saying you could get a cable from Tesco but it wasnt in stock online

im just thinking if you connect the cable from the back of the 360 to the hd tele, will the graphics be a lot crisper and better then the original component cable you get in the premium box.
#6
Yeah they should look much crisper, you will need to play around with the colour settings on your xbox as microsoft released an update so you can enrich the colours so they dont look washed out.
#7
Wow, think ill be doing that tomorrow then.

Does that mean you can use the last setting on the display tab on the 360, change it to 1020p or something like that
#8
With the VGA cable you get a different list of things to choose from. For 1080p you need a TV which supports 1080p, you'd know that it does as you would have paid a massive amount of money for the tv.

VGA cables just give a sharper image compared to component.

My tv does, wow thats going to be cool if it works.

Im getting confused with vga and component....is component the the cables you get in the premium box already?

Yes component are the ones that come in the box with the six wires.

Take it from me.........1080p looks excellent on games like Fight Night and Gears of War. :-D

So will i buy this cable then Sy? do you think the HDMI cable from tesco will be a lot better than the Component one?

cheers

Component = ok looking graphics but could be better
Tesc cable (hdmi) = crisper looking graphics plus you can use 1080p

Don't buy HDMI.........the 360 doesn't have HDMI yet........that'll be on the Elite.

Buy the VGA cable and it will look super duper. :-D It's definately better and a lot sharper picture than component.

Game etc..........any of those stores. My Tesco sells them as well but it's HUUUUUGE and sells just about everything. Much cheaper on somewhere like eBay though. I have the official one and it works great, haven't tried any of the 3rd Party stuff.

I'm tempted to get the Elite just so that i can use the HDMI.

Yeh iv just viewed a picture using the vga and it looks really really crisp and colourful
[mod]#16
Yep, you'll notice a big difference. Especially when games like PGR 4 come out with all the little animated rain drops

At last i can use the last setting on the 360 lol 1080p here i come

woo hoo !!
#18
If your tv does 1080p then why cant you select it via component as you should be able to?
#19
One of the settings, 1080ior 1080p when switched on the screen just flickers.
#20
nope on 1080i its able to show no problem then when i flick it to 1080p the screen splits in half.
#21
Sound like you tv doesn't support 1080P, Are you sure it does?
#22
hmm maybe it doesnt, ours is the samsung le32r74bd
#23
Nope that doesn't support 1080P, Only 1080I, 1080P only works for 37"+ (normally 42"+)

(I don't think any 32" supports 1080P...)
#24
ah well no point in getting the VGA cable then lol

thanks Ion-RF

Sorry to hijack thread saxo but just a quick ?
Whats better graphics from Component 720p or 1081i on HD
Saxo! you might want to check out AVForums as i did when i wanted some info on the settings on 360 and if i remember correctly VGA is better than component but you might need to clarify.

Def 1081i on HD, as long as you have a HD tv and the component cable (change your settings on the xbox and switch the button on the cable) then you should get a really good piccy.

I called gamestation today and what the guy said was that there was hardly a difference in the picture quality.
so i think i might just stick to the Component cable for just now, if i want HD graphics im going to have to get the Elite.

Which isnt going to happen so i might just hang onto the 360.

Your current xbox 360 is HD! 720p or 1080i is HD!

Only benefit of the elite is its HDMI and a 120gb HDD.
