Wondering if anyone can help. I bought one of the Dyson ball mini hoovers around 2 years ago now, however, I can't find my receipt and now the darn things playing up.

Does anyone know how the 5 year guarentee works? Can I just phone up Dyson and explain whats happened ( I can't remember if I registered the warrenty with them ? )

Rep for any help :)

You register the warranty when you first buy it, you input all your receipt details in case you lose it.

It may not be the issue with Munnski's Dyson, but these vacuum cleaners are prone to overheating and so cut out. This means that you have to wait for the motor to cool down [approx. 30 minutes] before it will work again. Dyson will suggest that it is a clogged filter, but it is not. It happen to ours several times as well as a friend's one. I often wonder what is wrong with the mound of Dysons I see at our local Recycling Centre!

We now use a cheap Electrolux which operates much better than the Dyson. Will never buy another Dyson:)

It's making an incredibly funny noise, and it looks like a little bits broken at the front. Want to scream :-D

worst case scenario .......I think..........would be you pay the £60 odds and they do a complete overhaul - saw that thread on here ages ago.

I got a new Dyson Animal when I replaced wooden flooring to carpets - and its a brilliant hoover.

This is the Dyson Ball mini and I just don't find it as good as the old Dyson I used to have!

Will go try and find a number for them and cross my fingers!!!

It could be a worn belt which might cause it to violently vibrate and do damage to itself. Dyson's motors operate at a very high velocity, so if anything goes wrong it can break and shatter parts nearby. Too be honest, unless you have your warranty, I'd cut my losses and buy a vacuum other than a Dyson. I think they play on the fact you can see the dirt, but we've found that ours actually picked up less than our other vacuum.

For whats its worth .. their customer service is top notch I spent 35 mins on the phone with a load of questions in respect of questions about getting a new compact model and they were spot on.. plus for 65 quid they said they will come and service my DC01 and that includes parts etc and mine has been dropped bit falling off etc but he said no worries it will get fixed

They can also check from its serial number when it was made and that shoudl also help prove its under 5.

Also if its a grinding type noise it maybe one of the models with a clutch and the clutch may have gone. This happened to my mothers DC07, was easy to get a new clutch and fit it.
