jamesterror - Careful with the self promotion, I think that goes against the Forum Code of Conduct, wouldn't want you to get in trouble for trying to lend a hand.

So that is your site?

Sending a PM with your link would also be classed as self promotion unfortunately.

I wanted to get into web design but HTML code gave me a headache! :giggle:

Sure, HTML isn't really headache. Just a ****** to remember most the important/advanced stuff, hence why I love dreamweaver since I have pretty poor memory anyway :) Its when you come to PHP, MySQL, ASP you get the headaches rolling in hard!

I think you're ok if you just mention that you offer such services and leave it up to the person to contact you if they're interested (no links, mention of company names etc.). I've done that a couple of times with my web design company and haven't got in any trouble, but I would like confirmation if that's ok or not if there are any mods about, I'm sure no-one fancies getting banned.

I wouldn't call PHP a headache, I love the stuff. But then I've spent a while as a C/C++ programmer so maybe it doesn't seem so difficult in comparison. ASP on the other hand I can't stand, it's like VB but worse, yuck. :giggle:

Agreed(ish), PHP is just a headache when you have silly mistakes and can't realise what they are. I learnt Visual Basic in two/three days and haven't ever used it since and I've just forgot everything, wonderful.

Ahh yes but at least PHP helps you out with error messages that make sense unlike the ASP ones, it's like trying to read hieroglyphs sometimes :giggle:.

Hey have a look at http://www.cubecart.com/site/home/ as the building blocks for your shopping cart.

This project is also interesting http://www.magentocommerce.com/ and should allow for some eye-catching e-commerce sites.

Have you looked at payment systems? Something like http://www.protx.com/ may be good as it keeps visitors on your site.

Someone here recommended me http://www.unitedhosting.co.uk/hosting.php for hosting!

This should allow for a functional shopping site but careful planning would be required as you may scare away potential customers with poor implementation.

For anymore help just ask!

Installations overview

I have been a software developer for nearly 18 years and I know nearly every programming language on earth (html, c, assembly, php, ... you name it) but I always use these scripts, most of the time without any modifications.

I'm using a company in the US called http://www.hostingzoom.com. Not sure if they offer the best deal now or not but I've been with them for a couple of years and I would definitely recommend them.

I hope that helps - and long live open source ;-)
