EBAY - A BIG SCAM??? Have your say

Voting time people !!

Let me explain.....

About a year ago, my other half was banned from ebay indefinately for listing a nintendo wiimote. Legit sale obviously and he had about 150 + feedback.

About a month ago, i listed a few things for sale, whereby all the fees came to £25 odd. Once all my listings had finished, all about the same time, before anybody could pay me for the items, ebay 'mysteriously' removed my listings and blocked me for no given reason!! I noticed it stated in a message that this did not relieve me of my duty to pay the fees. So I emailed them - because they have no phone based customer service?! -whereby i got the response of they will look into it.

A few days later no reply from them. i emailed them twice more and they never respnded to me. So i just left it. Why should i pay them £25 of my own money for nothing?!!?!

As it happens, they got a debt collectors company on my case, ringing me 3 -6 times a day?! And now the debt people are saying i owe £35 !!!

I wont touch ebay with a barge pole now - i think they are the most disgusting and shoddy company ive came across?! And i hope they are reading this too lol

But thats my opinions - whats yours..................

Hmmm bad experience huh....
There is a phone number for customer service btw.

Been ebaying for 9.5 years now and never had a problem with them (over 2500 transactions, 100% positive feedback!)
Only thing I don´t like, is how high the fees are now

Certainly sounds like they have made a pig's ear out of that one!

Lol, - my story is pretty much the complete opposite of yours. - About 5-6 years ago I was at the bottom of the pile, - no job, no self respect, no self confidence, no hopes, no dreams...
I stumbled upon ebay and it gave me the opportunity to prove to my customers how great a seller I could be, and how good I could make their experience of ebay. I thrived on this, and the boost it gave me meant I managed to get a decent job which I worked at, got promoted etc. Now I'm earning good money, have bought a house and am enjoying life :-) I managed to get a few thousand feedback on ebay (100% positive!) but nowadays I really don't have the time to sell any more - my "real" job takes up most of my time. Honestly, I believe that without the self confidence that ebay gave me I'd still be sat in a bedsit, wondering how I'd be able to pay for my next bottle of cider!

I got 'suspended' from eBay for selling flashed Xbox 360's, yeah it's my own fault and I knew what I was doing, so I have no complaints there.

The thing that bothered me is they suspended my ex-wife (we were still together at the time) saying that the account was related to mine. After much investigation through their ****** email support system they eventually told us it was because she had used my PayPal account to pay for 1 item nearly 2 years before!!!

We had to send off a copy of our birth certificates and our marriage certificate to prove that both of us existed (even though she registered a year before me at a different address, using her maiden name because we hadn't even met at that point!). Eventually they re-instated her, only to suspend her again 1 month later so we had to go through the whole process again! Well, 18 months later my eBay account is still suspended, saying I owe fees (it won't let me pay any fees as none are showing as due on my account).

I don't miss eBay at all, it's the biggest scam ever and I'm glad to be free of it, especially with all the changes recently and posts on here complaining about them!!

I suppose it has its pros and cons (a lot more cons I expect), but I managed to sell two redundant laptops recently that I could not even give away in the real world. One made £97.00 and the other £83.00. Even after describing all their faults, people bought them.

Yeah they can be pains I admit I must have had loads of accounts with them over the years, all for legit reasons though like forgetting username as havent used account in ages, or been suspended a few times normally for stupid reasons.

Was "indefinately" suspended before for listing a psp with pics I took myself 10 minutes before listing saying I was selling fake goods.

Another time was accused of shilling.

One or two got wrecked after I sold things and got bad buyers targeting me and contacting all other buyers saying im a scammer and to leave me negs, and as this was before I had home internet and wasnt able to reply right away to the buyers they took my lack of communication as me running off with the cash, others just didnt pay and Ebay just banned me then asked for the fee money, then had the cheek to say I needed to email them proof within 24 hours of the abuse happening for them to do anything about it.

A lot of people, including myself, have been put off using ebay because of the fees - it stinks having to pay to list, then pay selling fees, and then (because you have to have Paypal) Paypal fees as well.
I've had a few bad experiences with buyers and sellers - it puts me off using ebay now. I quite like using Gumtree as it's free.
